Bit of a rough time of year for some folks. I know that there are a few who've served floating around in here. If anyone needs/wants a chat (private or otherwise) I'll be floating around most of the day. Feel free to post in here or shoot me a private message if you just want to have a chat. Doesn't have to be anything specific, just having a good conversation with someone that gets the day can help. We can talk about how best to back a BoB, how hard it is to find good woolen socks, or you can explain how to safely jump-start a car. I still haven't wrapped my head around that.
On my part, I'm remembering specifically my grandfather that I never got to meet who was a fitter and turner in Borneo, and my husband's grandfather. But also a couple of people in the last few years that we've lost along the way to the black dog.
I'll also spend much of today shooting messages off to friends that I know aren't in anymore and might appreciate a catch up. So if anyone DOES feel inclined to chat don't feel like you're imposing. It's my way of keeping active and busy and stops me from walking around when I've had a few to many gunfire brews haha. I'm a big fan of even spending a few moments just thinking about the fact that I have the choice to sit at my computer and connect with friends all over the country. I popped off to a dawn service at a small town a half hour away. I've been going there for years because it's fairly quiet and subdued and very enjoyable to listen to the kookaburras loosing their minds as the sun comes up. It's very restful and introspective.
For anyone that hasn't served, who are you remembering today and how are you commemorating? And for those who have served no matter how long ago, your period of service or your conditions... Cheers I'd buy you a bevvie (or bickie!) if we weren't so spread out lol.
