.Gov already let me know I'm on their "books" so I don't give a fying fluk anymore, if you aren't on a list you aren't trying hard enough! To think after everything I've done for them over the years this is how they repay me!

Being tracked with any connected device is pretty much a givennand it would be foolish to think otherwise. That said, the point in de-googling a phone is not to prevent tracking, it is to reduce the quantity & quality of data you are unwittingly feeding into big tech's data collection algorithms. That happens with apps & cookies which monitor your images, contacts, web sites visited, purchases made, messages, files, patterns of life etc etc. By minimising app useage, app permissions and web history tracking you improve your privacy. People who fail to understand that their privacy is important today are the ones happily enjoying convenient free & online resources. As the world continues on its dystopian path towards personal carbon credits , social scores and draconian anti free speech legislation people will discover that the information they gave up for convenience will come to haunt them.

Oh absolutely, I'm far more concerned about google creating an AI version of me that looks, acts and communicates the same way that I do than I am about being tracked by big bad govs! I've been looking at the Pixel as my next phone and getting away from Samsung for a variety of use reasons, but the ability to de-google it makes it even more of an attractive option.
