Valid point.. In the US, any gun suicide is considered violence incident..
Up here ...supposedly... gun suicides are not counted this way.. But I don't trust those crunching these numbers to not be part of an agenda...

Suicides vs gun deaths: Last time I checked the Aust bureau of stats:

78% of gun deaths in oz are suicides.

5% of oz suicides use guns.

This has been fairly consistent over decades.

Gun murders peaked in 1968 (26 years pre JH's gun 'buyback') and dropped for no apparent reason thereafter.

So for 1000 suicides, 50 might use a gun.

= approx 62 gun deaths (including 50 suicides)

= approx 12 gun related accidents, murders or bad guys justifiably shot by cops.
