2022-09-08..... NW BC CA... At 11;00 hours Pacific Daylight time Sweetie just informed me Queen Elizabeth has passed away.. I don't know how old this news is when she got it..
It is too bad, I'm sorry for the families loss.. To me she always seemed a plucky old duck with a mind of her own and quite amusing at times.. Totally dedicated to her family and her job as it were.. The rank of queen wasn't that important to me, but very important to many it seems.. I do respect her dedication to the job.. And feel she was totally dedicated to the task and the people...
I have seen a number of short videos about her passing, how it will play out and such.. The code word for this being ...London Bridge is Down...
There seems an undertone of concern of how well will Charles react and how all will play out now..
RIP...

Albo (our PM) said he wouldn't bring up the republic again until the Queen died.
BRING IT ON!

Whats wrong with a self governing, Monarchical republic ? One of only 3 in the world. We will see how Charles reacts and treats us. This is not going to end well.
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

We are self governing until we aren't. When it doesn't suit them they interfere. (Whitlam outage for example)
Being part of the Commonwealth makes us look weak. We don't need them, haven't for a long time.

Such a graceful and well-respected world leader. She will be missed.

I agree, Bug. I'm not a monarchist, I don't really have big feelings on it either way. Corruption exists in ruling families and governments so I don't think either system is 'better'. But for a person who had every roadblock possible put in her way over the years she certainly was an astounding woman.
Whether you're for or against a ruling family Elizabeth herself was an absolutely awe-inspiring woman.

She volunteered at age 18 for active service to put her life on the line and go fight authoritarianism alongside millions of others. Wonder how many teenage daughters of world leaders would do that today. She knew what true leadership was.

We don't need them, haven't for a long time. Just for clarity that was our American allies not the British that caused the Whitlam incident I guess they didn't like the idea of being booted out of Pine gap it is also known as the forgotten coup there are few interesting articles about it including the foot note about the letter from the US president apologizing for interfering in our domestic policy and politics and claiming the will not do it again The queen was someone that others should look up to as to how to conduct yourself in the public light it's a shame the younger ryals didn't take note
