Well, we did it and I’ve been absentee for quite awhile (apologies, and thanks SAHunter for checking on me).
We moved out to our 48 acres, living off grid and in our RVs. My 21 year old son moved back from California also so it’s been wonderful to get his help. We are trying to get the solar panels up and done (as well as the windmill in) before winter.

Welcome back Doc! I remember you had a pretty huge commute to work, have you managed a way around that? It's great to hear from you! I'm excited to hear how your set up goes.
