Hi all,
By any chance, is there anyone here that lives in the Toowoomba region?
I’m moving up there next year for family reasons.
just like to see if there is a network happening.

All good. We already bought a place in town and it will become our urban fortress. I just can’t get the idea of a rural block past the wife. So would be good to look at a network or catch up when I’m fully settled.

Spent some time in Tbar. Not a bad town, I love the old Colonial style houses with huge leafy green trees in them. Obviously that isn't the WHOLE place but the older suburbs are pretty nice.
There was only one (extremely overpriced!) Asian grocers while we were there though so that nixed it as a permanent location for us *chuckle*. Maybe sell it to the other half as an investment block. "Oh, we don't have to build on it, just something to have in the back pocket to sell in the future". That's how I initially introduced a rural block idea to my other half and now he's well on board with buying and building an off-grid home that will be our BiL if ever required.

Toowoomba... Such an interesting name.. Had to do a Google map and then a Google search... City of gardens.... What sounded good was sunny and 26C at the moment..

Big fan of Toowoomba...lots going for it. Plenty of industry, agriculture, mining, big airport, Uni, bigish hospital.
Interestingly, according to Martin North it has the highest mortgage stress in the country at the moment.

I have a brother in Twmba. Great spot to be if shtf. Multiple roads out towards the west, heaps of Bush tracks the same, and far enough away from Brisbane if the missiles do fly. Crime is a bit shit, but no worse than any bigger town. Hope you are enjoying it there. There are heaps of quasi preppers there, mainly younger tradies who grew up west of twmba and settled there for work. Would be a great exodus to the west if shtf, and these blokes would know the backroads. Twmba biggest threat would be the range crossing. Not because it would cut off twmba, but it would cut off bris and the coast from Australia's most fertile and productive land.

Nice big fences, cameras, a few booby traps etc. got solar, rainwater tanks, basement etc. And the location and opportunities are great. High up above sea level, good soils and as you say, plenty of roads out. Also good radio reception too. Just building up my network now…..
