Chinese Spy Balloon over Montana??

The US shot down another "unidentified object" over Alaska. Apparently, it wasn't a balloon this time, but some "cylindrical silver object with no obvious means of propulsion"

Interesting that. Trudeau is puffing his chest about it but the reality is that it was US fighters that took the shot over Canadian airspace. Although apparently the canucks scrambled as well it seems it wasn't them that downed the object, so that's a pretty good indication of who's running that particular 'sovereign airspace' spin cycle. I wonder how many people pointing out that the last balloon covered the entire west coast of Canada before anyone did anything made him realise it was bad PR to not make a public announcement about it.

Hilariously, "A former Pentagon official, Michael P. Mulroy, said if it was another Chinese balloon, it could be a sign the country was deliberately provoking the US, reported the New York Times." Hahaha... YOU THINK?! They really feel the need to spell it out for Stumblebum McPublic, eh.

Our balloon launched emp devices will disrupt your country completely, surrender now and avoid the rush....Testing....testing....We know there would be a gun behind every blade of grass, but we don't need to physically invade your country, just disable it and then you will willingly give us the resources we need. One wonders weather or not its a case of 'spy vs spy', when the military didn't admit they were tracking the 'balloon' for some days. After all, OPSEC means u never let on to yr enemy what you now about what they are doing.

It's very convenient timing, isn't it. It's really what the timing is for that's got me scratching my head. Is it their gov trying to distract from exactly those things? Or is it them finally ready to pop off with a new war given that the War on Terrorism is finally finished? If we don't hear any overt reporting about the analysis of said UFOs in the next few weeks I think we can be more comfortable that it's the former rather than the later, and that it's internals that they're trying to distract from rather than externals that they're trying to start a war with.

A new war would certainly distract from internal problems and more. China is conveniently far enough away from the US that it's a great target for another proxy war. Especially given their base force here in Darwin and several others in much closer proximity to the South China Sea. I wonder if they've just decided that they're finally in as good of a position that they're going to be in the next ten years for the start of a new war and that they'd rather start it on their terms than China's. And China has already indicated that despite their nukes they're moderately reluctant to use them. Threaten with them? Absolutely. But they seem to have toned their nuke rhetoric down since Russia started banging on about nuking Ukraine.
I've got no doubt that it wouldn't take too much shoving for that to change but in the early days I think they'd at least still see that as a tool of last resort. I hope. Heh.

My own personal opinion is that if the US come out with a strong denouncement and big words about all of the UFOs originating in China, we're probably closer to the edge of war than we have been in the last few years. But if it's kind of "Yeah, look we know it's not ours and it's probably China's but we encourage all countries to keep out of our airspace" then I'd hazard a guess it's an internal distraction method.
