My part of the country remains without power or internet. Sending this via satellite phone, but because data so expensive single post about it until mainline data back up or when in Wellington on Sunday! East coast of north island, massive infrastructure damage - likely billions in damage - dozens of road and rail bridges washed out, including a few big ones. Thousands homes destroyed. Tens of thousands displaced. Death toll currently 9 - likely to hit 100 according to police DVI - but they always pessimists, so think that is entirely guess work on there part, but the refrigerated portable mortuaries arrived last night. We will build on flood plains……

Our biggest natural risk is from bush fires. We can prep for that with fire tankers and clearing, but I feel for those in flood areas as you cant really do much, maybe build on posts above any potential flood level, but You really cant have a plan, apart form evacuating and waiting it out somewhere safe.
Our bush fire plan is to stay and defend, the local RFS knows who will be staying and who will be going. They know what gear I have on the farm and we have had a couple of combined training afternoons developing strategies. Our main strategy is to back burn from the sheds/houses up the hill to the top boundaries. But, u know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men.....
Globalists are terrorizing humanity with artificial SCARCITY of everything: Food, energy, fertilizer and more… When we defeat the controllers, we unleash ABUNDANCE for all

I'm glad to hear you're safe bce. Hope things are ok for you and yours. I can only imagine how rough it is. I've seen some videos online of what's going on and the indomitable kiwi spirit seems strong and capable regardless of the situation.

No direct impact on me. Off grid on a hill in a house built to the extreme wind zone specifications it was going to take more than a Cat 1 cyclone to damage us!! Which was the plan and fortunately proved correct! Will write something about the lack of preparedness and levels of bureaucratic incompetence a bit later. But preparedness pays off. This sort of natural disaster enabled relationship building by sharing resources with friends and neighbours. Lack of any communication beyond am radio was the only issue. My mesh network worked well when out and about - but only having 6 units limited usefulness. Have limited data now, but it’s taken nearly 4 days. Massive damage locally to me, but BAU for us.

Good to hear you're going well bce1.
It is unfortunate that so many others play the "She'll be right" game of ignorance ... until bad things happen to them.
Be careful not to over-extend your generosity.
