Anyone ever used beer as a fertiliser? I tried, but kept drinking it before I could use it - lol.

Just bottled our 1st batch of mead. The hydrometer showed 25% alcohol, but it didn't taste like that much and we think the reading was affected by the fact we used a lot, over 20 kg honey in it and as honey is very dense, its screwing with the readings. Still nice to drink though ! We left the last 1/3 in the fermenter and added more water, to see if we can get it to ferment again, as I think we used too much honey first time round.
And if you think I'm gunna waste it on the garden, think again pal !
You can never truly know the caliber of a man until his resilience is put to the test.

Supposed to be good for trapping snails and slugs. www.abc.net.au/gardening/how-to/top-tip-snail-control/10975154Beer Trap – An oldie but a goody, the beer trap is a sure-fire way to trap and humanely kill snails and slugs. A shallow saucer or container, placed in the garden and dug in so it is level with the top of the soil and topped up with stale beer is irresistible to snails – they love the yeast. If you can’t bear the thought of tipping your good beer into the garden, try a Vegemite and water mixture.

If you can’t bear the thought of tipping your good beer into the garden, try a Vegemite and water mixture. I tried to post something similar yesterday. On a side note, I had thousands, (yes thousands) of snails all over the driveway, shrubs etc whenever there was precipitation. Put up with it for years as they did not bother me. But one day when spraying the blackberries I sprayed a little on the driveway and have not see many snails since. Blackberry mixture is Vinegar - but I use Double Strength Vinegar because I want results Salt (I think Iodinized salt works best) - dissolve until it won't dissolve no more. a dash of detergent Detergent breaks down the waxy coating on leaves Vinegar burns the leaves Salt dries out the leaves
