So today I finally got banned from my last YouTube Channel! I never, ever thought that speaking the truth would actually be considered an almost criminal act!

Bah. I almost NEVER comment on youtube videos to even worry about being banned. For one, because youtube itself ensures that creators don't have any option but to toe the corporate line. But the second reason is that if you play stupid games you win stupid prizes. Youtube is full of absolute morons and even the most innocuous comment can get absolute dropkicks dribbling their stupidity literally years after you've commented because they're too stupid to realise how old the video and your comment is.
To be honest it's part of the reason I appreciate this forum so much. Diverse views, plenty of people to learn from, and the general respect that even if you disagree with someone on one or two key points you can still learn from each other and communicate as adults. A large part of the internet prepping world is full of raging idiots that vary from the end of 'the world is going to end this afternoon at 1530' and 'don't worry, everything is fine and don't look at the man behind the curtain because then you have to actually use your brain'.

I refuse to have anything to do with them because of that. The whole internet seems to be setting itself up to collect information about people, what your interests are, what site you visit, how long you are on them for and so on. And that information is a tradable commodity.
I surf the net using a false name/address, along with a IP that is not allocated or related to my location.
My self defense is primarily MY responsibility.

Youtube is just the latest in a long line of "Flat Earth" platforms/societies. Remember when the internet was created as a totally free and anonymous space? I use a IP address masker that gives an IP address somewhere else, and also have an alias ID and e mail address to maintain OPSPEC. whilst browsing.

Not exactly a stellar career...problems with drugs, alcohol, PTSD...he'll get crucified in court. He has also stood for politics, so if he'd won you'd probably be bagging him for being a corrupt, evil loser!
Who cares if soldiers did bad stuff during a war...that's what happens in wars, and defence people will protect themselves and their people. The one ultimately responsible is John Howard for sending them there in the first place - go after him.

Most MSM (who are, for the most part, complimentary of him despite his many apparent issues) call him 'complicated'. So I had a bit of a look into him and ten seconds of google-fu showed me that 'complicated' is an extremely polite way of putting it.
I decided to judge him on direct quotes from him alone. Not what others have said of him. Not from media that could be biased one way or another. Direct. Quotes.
The more I read of direct quotes from him, the less time and credibility I can attribute to him. I have no opinion on his whistleblowing. I've always been a massive fan of the idea that people should be able to report things without repercussion. That absolutely should be enshrined in protections for our people whether civil or service. And I can't emphasize that enough. I wouldn't want anyone to think that he shouldn't have called out a problem when he saw one. Everyone should feel that they are able to identify problems without risk of retribution. Especially when it comes to something so severe as war crimes!
But I also believe that you shouldn't break the law to do so when there are legal avenues available to you. There WERE legal avenues available to him but he decided that the legal avenue that was available was simply not fast enough for his liking despite it being an incredibly complex and system-based problem.
"One for thee, another for me" is strong with this one. He definitely strikes me as a lawyer who believes he should be above the law. I was going to write a whole heap of explanations of my opinion of him based purely on his quotes but the reality is that it's unlikely to change anyone's mind on him if they've already decided he's some kind of vigilante hero.
As a side note, he's MAJ Retd. at best. Not MAJ. Not sure what the protocol is for a medical discharge but I'll give some leeway that he maybe can still use the 'Ret' post nominal if he was discharged involuntarily for medical reasons (and I'm pretty sure psych falls under 'medical reasons' for those playing along at home) rather than retiring out due to age. But he hasn't been in for many years so leaning on his past rank as if it were current in an attempt to provide credibility makes my skin crawl even more.
You can still steal valour even if it's your own.
Yuck.
