Do you have candles in your stash?? Good for lighting, warmth, even cooking - hey, if the SHTF, have a romantic candle lit dinner every night!!!
I have a box of 9hr tea lights, and need to buy tapered candles too.
Thoughts/ideas???

Agreed.
I've got wind-up torches a plenty, candles are a decent addition, 2 is one, one is none. All of my sealed containers have one in them too, as I use them to get rid of the oxygen in the containers before sealing them.

I'm a bit of a candle fan. If you get the traditional wax candle, the wax can be used for sealing jars or other things if needed.
Soy candles should burn longer, and if you like the scented variety, the scent is stronger and longer lasting.

i think it would be really tough to cook using candles, but with some terracotta pots and tea lights, it can heat up a small room.
And I agree with the doc ... candles make great trading items. Thats why I have them in a variety of sizes. 15 min candles, hour long candles and 4 hour long candles. Bug out bag though, I have 50ml glass bottles with cooking oil, with cotton wicks...
Cooking should always use either alcohol stoves or them camping stoves (with parafin wax in them).

Did a roundup of my tealights today and have realised there are at least 100 of them in all, but all my other candles (pillar candles) etc seemed to of moved out with my oldest son and oldest daughter ....... might have to buy a few more.

i actually prefer larger candles, esp those that can run for 6 hours and above.
I have a couple of lanterns which accepts the candles...
I'm trying to build redundancies into my preps... I'm really struck by the whole concept and all. I have 2 packets of cotton balls now, will probably get another 2 soon. So many uses.
Same with the candles and yes, 15min candles or hour long candles are awesome for trading :X

you should store wax in bulk, you can use it to seal your canned food. I at the moment, literally dip my canned goods (Store bought) in wax for long term storage, although I'm moving away from the canned goods (and slowly eating through the stash) to move to a better more long term food storage solution.
Anyway, candles are great, we use them allot now, for light and mood, I should stock up on lantern wicks as they make excellent candle wicks too.

If you don't have a speaker that makes sound [aka an amplifier] in it as they typically need to dissipate heat.

No I meant you could store limited amounts of electronic in such cans, like a mini Faraday cage, providing you lined the inside with something, but it was mostly a joke as it would be impractical.

We have a sale here for 50 tea lights for just 1.75USD. Am getting 2 packs. Just to add to my storage. I don't exactly like these because you need a surface to put them on that can stand the heat from the container but they are portable.
Also got 2 more boxes of birthday candles (@20 pieces each box). Good for fire starting.
