Another thread somewhere mentioning pet foods.. Brings to mind a line from an old Richard Pryor (US black comedian) movie where in the hood they were playing poker for a can of Alpo dog food.. Him saying ..it aint bad once you cook it up...
As tuna and pink salmon goes.. I have found it in the 3 something ounce pouch (about the came as in a can) either on sale or at the Dollar Store for 99 cents a pouch.. Much cheaper than in the can.. I love, love the Chicken of the Sea brand pink salmon as it tastes much like the Pacific coast salmon from the far north.. This to me at least..

I got to looking a little and found a huge number of homemade recipes for pet foods and biscuits.. This appears to be pretty much a standard dog biscuit recipe.. Seems to be more a hard tack type product.. Maybe add a bit of onion and garlic powder and I think it would be better than a traditional human hard tack cracker..?? Worth a try..

Make your own Milk Bone dog biscuits with this copycat recipe. Dogs love them!
Prep Time
20minutes mins Cook Time 50minutes mins Total Time 1hour hr 10minutes mins
Course: DOG TREATS dog biscuits Servings: 30 biscuits Calories: 64kcal
Ingredients
1/3 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup hot water
1/3 cup non-fat dry milk
1 beef chicken or veggie stock cube
3 cups whole-wheat flour or flour of your choice
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 1 or 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. The amount of sheets you use will depend on how many biscuits you cut by size.
Cut butter up into pieces and place in a large bowl. Add the non-fat dry milk and the stock cube. Pour the hot water over this and mix until butter is melted.
Add the flour and mix well, forming a dough you can roll.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into desired shapes. Prick with a fork. Place on prepared sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 45-50 minutes. Turn off the oven and let the biscuits sit in the oven until completely cool. This helps to dry them for storage.
Amount is variable, but I get about 2 dozen 3-inch bone-shaped biscuits.
