The thought is there that if some nefarious entity wanted to start something, the ideal time to do so would be when the worlds eyes are on something else, such as the Olympics or even an election. What big election is coming up soon ? Keep awake all, its an ideal time to strike, when everything is confused and upset, factions fighting each other, Govts distracted with LGBT arguments and so on.
I think that the next USA election in 2028 is gonna be the trigger for WW3, and we are prepping accordingly.
A year spent on artificial intelligence is enough to make one believe in God.

That's good, now, try it carrying your family and their/your worldly goods on the Ducati, dodging others trying to do the same thing......

Prepping Isn’t A Hobby, It’s A Duty Won’t need to do that, because my family don’t live in the Illawarra, and my high country retreat is fully stocked. I’d probably only take my handguns. And maybe the Mrs. I have my eggs spread across a number of baskets.

Well done, is the Ducati EMP proof, or a modern electronic wonder, waiting to vaporize its computer at the first sniff of a A bomb ?

The Ducati has as much electronics as a GP bike, and about as much horsepower, so it’s not EMP proof. Does EMP even happen if the device is detonated underwater? Like, can you have a massive tsunami and emp as well ?

What was learned from the "in water" detonation of a single nuke at bikini atoll in the 50's is that it creates absolutely huge amounts of radioactive fallout. Way more than aerial detonations. Or detonations on land. Presumably meaning that highly radioactive rainfall might be a serious issue for mountain ranges inland from the coast. Probably wouldn't be widespread contamination, but particular areas where the radioactive plume passes overhead might get very hot indeed.

In my eyes, there are two most likely nuclear options, Scorched earth or air burst for EMP effect and letting the remaining people eat each other. All the nuclear powers have the standard procedures of an instant retaliatory strike, so whoever launches first will know that they will be toast straight after the launch. This leads to the old dirty bomb option smuggled into the country bit by bit and assembled in country.

An emp is created by the atomic explosion, its strength is related to the yield, and weather the nuke is 'salted' or enhanced or not. Bear in mind, there are other ways to create an EMP without using a nuke, and no doubt they have been experimented with and are under active development.
As the nuclear fireball obliterates anything adjacent, even in an underwater detonation where the water is vaporized, an emp is still produced. Perhaps in a really deep explosion, the water may attenuate it somewhat, but a deep (1,000 meter) explosion probably wouldn't do much apart from a tsunami.
The reality of the 'six minute war' as detailed in the '60's is well understood.
Could we destroy the entire world with all the nukes going off at the same time ? Probably not, but there wouldn't be much left to live for afterwards. If all the firepower were directed at the populated areas, perhaps its possible.

Our prepping also includes basic means to survive after an EMP. We have a diesel tractor that has no electronics, apart from the alternator, which isn't needed as it can be run started and has an all mechanical fuel injection system. Appropriate implements for it include the rotary cultivator, single moldboard plough, slasher and of course, enough fuel to run it for some years. Seeds and other plant stock is always here, either in the greenhouses or being planted out. That's also part of prepping, knowing what will grow and thrive in your climate before TSHTF and survival depends on that knowledge. Prepping is a 24/7 operation as we have to be ready when 'they' are, not when we are.
Water is life, tanks are good and must be able to be quickly disconnected from the guttering systems in case of nuclear fallout and possible contamination.
Dams are good for bulk water supply, but may not be useable after a nuke event. Luckily, the 'nasty' radionuclides' have quite short half lives and will decay quickly, within weeks, so contamination may not be a big issue.
Electric is another matter that we have tried to address, and have some spare equipment (inverters/regulators/solar panels) stored in an emp proof container, along with enough solar panels to rebuild a basic power supply to keep us going. Note that all you smart people with lithium battery's will be down the plug hole as the BMS will be fried, possibly setting the pack on fire. And that includes us as we have several 24 v lithium based power systems on houses here, but our main battery's are 48 volt, 3,000 amp hr lead acid submarine types with no BMS.
The need for communications has already been discussed, but you need to think about how to get your troops home, or get to your BOL after an event if its all gone to hell in a handbasket. Bear in mind that if you are the only one with an operational vehicle, you will be a target. Pushbikes are a good alternative as they wont attract much attention and can cover a lot of ground quickly to get home ASAP.
I have an older Triton 4WD ute, with number plates on it and even though it does have an electronic ignition, there is a spare module wrapped in triple layers of foil in the glove box, along with the necessary tools to replace it. And I have already made sure it works and I know how to change it out even in the dark. No other electrics to go wrong, no computer etc, so should be useable after an 'event'.
When we said, we were a neutral country, we really meant it… Switzerland has highest proportion of people not identifying as male or female…

So basically what you’re saying is after an EMP all 3 levels of government won’t be able to spy on you, scammers won’t be able to rob you or steal your identity, it will kill all the cctv used to follow your every move, no more email inbox full of junk mail, no highway patrol, no fed leghumpers stealing a living by monitoring your online activity, no more tv filled with crap like Home & Away, no CBDC, no electronic vaccine passports etc etc.
Bring it on. I can handle riding a push bike or pony and living a simpler life if all that big brother stuff vanishes.

I can handle riding a push bike or pony and living a simpler life if all that big brother stuff vanishes. Yip, all it takes is two high altitude EMP nukes, internet down, all banking come to a standstill, tucking stopped, riots, not long we are in Mad Max territory. The entitled welfare nation of Aus will so riot and society will tear itself apart. Police and law enforcement number are very low in Aus compared to most other countries, Gov will lose control. Gov will then have a problem feeding and paying their employees - that when home grown Mad Max scenario becomes a reality. Interesting to see how long before gov confiscated resources like all fuel, food stored in silos and farm animals, firearms, pharmaceuticals, there are so many drug and medication dependent Australians, most have less than a week in hand. Every time there is a flood, bushfire where communities are cut off, the gov sends out helicopters to deliver food and meds after 24h as people start panicking as they run out of basics. It is an easy destruction and invasion of a country, not much is required the people riot and do the work for the invading country. Russians and other bad actors support Antifa, Black Lives Mater etc.. and other organisations laying the groundwork for destruction of civil society. There is a lot going on in the background that have set up the western world for catastrophic failure.

How will the government even know where legally held firearms are when all their computer systems crash after an EMP? Their database will be toast and most people, cops included, couldn’t find an address 5 minutes away without gps, and that will be gone as well. Antifa, BLM, any organised riot or protest only happen because of social media, and guess what, that’s gone too. I’m sure all the shops will get looted very quickly, but after that the unprepared will be too busy starving to organise anything of consequence.

I'm sure they have backups, probably paper copies somewhere. They are the ones orchestrating this collapse, so will have appropriate systems in place to manage it.
And it wont be after the event, but before it, they will have advance warning of S Hitting TF and will act before hand.
Distance away from people and knowledge will be essential survival tools, probably more so that supplies are as knowledge to grow food is ore valuable in the long term than having stored supplies as these will eventually run out.
Truth does not mind being questioned, a lie does not like being challenged.

Yes that is a possibility, gov organisations are very heavily reliant on modern comms, with phones down, and fuel inaccessible, it will be difficult to call up reserves and get people to come to work, they also have family that needs protection and food. A solar EMP could have the same effect. Organised groups that have regular meetings will still get organised and cause problems. Yeah within 2 weeks, there will be starving hords of drug dependent zombies. .

Firearms registry's keep paper files , such as PTA forms and other identifying info

No such thing as paper forms in NSW or QLD ( and possibly other states as well). Licence applications, PTA’s and rego papers are all electronic.

How the government's proposed 'Trust Exchange' digital ID scheme would work - Article goes into further detail, but a powerful pack of "Yikes, no thanks!" from me! The first details of a one-stop shop for Australians to prove their identity, check into hotels and even submit qualifications for job applications have been released by the federal government. Its proposed "Trust Exchange" system would use QR codes made popular during the COVID-19 pandemic, or a "tap-to-pay" system to let people share information kept under their MyGov accounts. It is hoped a pilot of "TEx" will be up and running from early next year. The government hopes the system, which will not be compulsory, can stop businesses from having to hold people's sensitive documents, which can be targeted by cybercriminals. A single access point for your digital identity could also make some cumbersome processes such as rental applications more convenient. But at least one cyber expert has expressed concerns TEx could be a "honey pot" for cybercriminals, and could open the door for the federal government to collect even more information on Australians than it already does. The government asserts, however, that will not be a concern because it is developing a "decentralised" model with more privacy and security settings.

I worked for Centrelink for 16 years and I can assure you when they ditched paper records they didn’t employ thousands of people to make paper copies of everything.

Fortunately for the police, the firearms registry has been leaked so many times that they should be able to buy the information back from criminal groups if the police computer system ever fails.

Don't underestimate the people causing this breakdown in society, they have it all worked out, and that may well include paper records that no one else sees.
