If Africa kicks off with multiple coups and civil wars, there will be a mega shortage on Lithium and cobalt for the batteries as all the child slave labourers are drafted off to fight like every other African civil conflict

Quote: vehicle fuel usage is just a small part of the business. Additionally there is a lithium problem to make all the batteries needed for EV. To convert he worlds autos to EV is not doable.
So basically that means transitioning away from petrol vehicles isn’t the answer to global warming?

Global warming is all hot air.
The climate is changing all the time. Some of the cycles are 1,000's of years long, and what makes us think we understand them all ?
Id like to apologize to anyone I haven't offended yet, I will get to you shortly !

Electrical power generation is where most of GHG go. other industries are metal smelting, and large transport. For eg. the railroads are the biggest uses of diesel in Australia, then trucking, shipping and farming. A farm tractor and harvester working on batteries, the fire balls will be massive when they go SponCom.

If Africa kicks off with multiple coups and civil wars, there will be a mega shortage on Lithium and cobalt for the batteries as all the child slave labourers are drafted off to fight like every other African civil conflict The world is very interconnected more so than any time in history, all the drams unfolding across the world due to human greed and natural disasters is going to case a apocalyptic implosion in the near future. Urbanization, central food processing and interlinked economy, food security at the worst the world has ever seen. For e.g. diesel supply interrupted, fertilizer and seed don't get distributed, the framers cant plant, the harvest cant get to market and distribution fails... it does not take much and and it all implodes. During the great Depression starting 1929 prices were so low for milk that the farmers just pored in out onto the ground in protest - during massive famine and unemployment food is thrown away.

So these sheep won’t be able to get to market, forcing my neighbours to sell them locally (the ones that don’t fall into my freezer, that is). Living amongst food producers will be very handy.

A few figures.
A typical John Deere header uses a 500 kw turbocharged diesel engine, working for say 12 hours a day during harvest.
500 kw for 12 hours = 6,000 kwh, or 6 MWh.
A large Tesla battery is around 120 kwh, so the largest Tesla battery will last 120/500 hours = .24 hours or almost 15 minutes, not counting efficiency loss due to the heavy discharge. So we will need 12 hours/.24 number of battery's to do a 12 hour day = 50 battery packs. Then to charge them, we will need an appropriate number of chargers. For one header, doing one paddock. Unlike a Tesla semi trailer, a header works at almost full power continuously, a truck goes up and downhills, not at full power all the time. Ditto for a tractor ploughing or furrowing.
Say we solve the battery capacity issue with some really cool exotic technology. How are we gunna charge the battery? 6 Mwh is almost 12,000 amp hours at 500 v. So, to provide 6 Mw over a period of 12 hours, the mains feeder will need to be able to supply 3,464,101 watt hours over 3 phases for 12 hours = 8,350 amps-continuous, 3 phase. On a rural power line that struggles to provide a 60 amp single phase domestic supply. Get real. For one header on one paddock on one farm.....
On site solar panels are the answer ?
6 Mwh has to be supplied during the peak sun period, say 6 hours in northern NSW. Simple calculation as to the number of panels needed.
6,000,000/400 (the panel output)/6 (peak sun hours/day) = 2,500 panels. Not an unreasonable amount. At $200 each = $500,000, once again, not unreasonable considering that a new header is well over 5 million dollars.
What about the 50 battery packs, and the handling/charging stations ?
Round about $20,000 each battery pack = $1,000,000 and the super chargers are between $100,000 and $175,000 each. Assuming say 20 chargers for the 50 packs = $ 2,000,000 minimum.
All for one farm, one header and one crop.
Possible ? Yes, practical ? No.
Are these green people so inept/stupid that simple mathematics has them stuffed ? Maybe they are a product of the modern educational system where the right answer isn't necessarily correct ?
Electric farming vehicles are practical for ATV's, Quads etc, but not for large scale farming. I hope you have your vegie gardens up and running, and your alternative fuel sources organized, as your gunna need them when the Greenies put a stop to IC powered farm machinery and it all collapses around our ears. Just another brick in the wall.
Remember, these are back of the hand calculations, so may be totally wrong, but its a start.
Keep in mind Einsteins famous equation E = Mc squared.
The amount of energy in matter is mind-boggling, yet even a nuke reactor converts less than 1 % of the mass into usable energy, remember, we are not talking about overall efficiency of generation of electricity, but mass conversion according to Einsteins law.
There's got to be a better way, fission ??

When the tofu (soybean) kale and avocado crops fail because the EV farm machinery can’t cut it (literally and figuratively) then the Greenies will be in uproar and demand the return of those evil fossil burning fuels. Until then I hope they all starve to death.

I think the start of the Collapse supermarkets will give food away almost for free to anyone who has cash. Shelf life problem and a storage problem. Local farmers will barter and trade to get rid of stock and grain. Will be too costly to transport to the city and no-one will have any money to purchase the produce.

Today's generation.....lets design an aircraft. Hmmmm.... 2 + 2 = 56 that will work, maybe. Lets get it in the air and try it out. Funny, I was sure the maths was right, it crashed.....
Trouble is, these greenies have infiltrated all sectors and are imposing their will on every facet of our civilization. They wont starve 'cause they will starve the rest of us.
Another thought.....its all very well and good having a property and gardens, but what happens when The New World Economic Order takes the land away from you ? And Australia stupidly is signed up to it, both sides are in on it as well.
Ill say it for you FB....over my dead body, still holding my weapon tightly !
Energy, in turn, can be used to create fuels and fertilizer, two inputs necessary for affordable food. In addition, the universe provides the sun which brings us heat, energy and photosynthesis, all for free.

"I think the start of the Collapse supermarkets will give food away almost for free to anyone who has cash. Shelf life problem and a storage problem. "
Perhaps, but I think people will suddenly realize they are not prepared and will storm the supermarkets, taking everything, probably without paying.
Supermarkets give away food now to the food banks.
I'm a prepper he's a prepper, wouldn't you like to be a prepper too ?

"Do the preppers survive or are preppers supposed to be smart - and not get into situations like that"
The latter, don't get into such a situation in the first place.

A basic cause and effect....the more heat, the more evaporation, the more energy in the atmosphere, the more rain and unfortunately, the more severe the storms.
The more CO2, the more growth, the richer the environment. CO2 is a basic need for all plant growth.
Once again, the greenies have shown a complete ignorance of basic science. Hopefully, the law of selective stupidity will get them, and they will be removed from the gene pool.
I noticed that the ABC news this morning reported that all movement and research has had to stop in the Antarctic, as its just too cold, out of season as well.
By the way, anyone noticed that the ABC reports on this sort of story, once, then its dropped ? They do that so they can sprook they have an unbiased view.

Usually with ABC news I tune out straight after the “we are coming from the land of the (insert tribe name here.
Sorry, it’s not your land anymore. You were defeated by a foreign invader. One who now gives you free education, very cheap public housing, cheap loans, reserves well paid jobs for you etc etc. A pretty good deal if you ask me. A better deal than the original tribes gave each other when they stole each other’s land.

Ahhh....but you are forgetting that its humans who are making the excess CO2 and have to be disposed of.
When geoengineering isn’t creating artificial droughts, rain falls out of the sky for free, and the rivers, streams and oceans are teeming with life and abundance (except for when we pollute them with pesticides, biosludge and plastics, of course).
