Yep 100% we are getting an influx of "pom refugees" here too and they are in general not good, all hanging out to become "part of the community" by joining RFS, SES, Marine Rescue etc and then telling everyone they are doing it all wrong and then try to take it over!   They think because they lived here for two months they're now a longstanding local. 

Every second post on Reddit seems to be people from the UK asking about coming here. Tradesman in particular seem to be making the move. They have all heard stories of working FIFO in mine, making a killing and retiring in a few years. Not sure if it's going to be that easy for them.

We are still in a good spot MWT, we will take up the slack with what Russia has been denied - Aluminium, Copper and the the US is investing big here with rare earths. Iron Ore might slow down a bit...have to see if Japan brings manufacturing back like the US is at the moment.

UK has a bit of work to do. It's going to take time to move their alignment away from Europe and sell themselves to the Yanks. Once they do that, they should be OK.

Your "close friends" in the US are fellow Amateurs right? Old retired boomers who haven't done anything for 20 years and read the same crap online as you?

We dont need the US to defend us when we have access to their weapons. Having said that, they have bases here, they are going to defend us anyway.

As for the US itself - been watching the strike with the auto union workers in the US? They are asking for a one third pay-rise and most people in the know reckon they are going to get it or something pretty close. This will revitalise the union movement in the US at a time when they are pouring billions into re-industrialising. What you get then is a re-emergence of the middle class (better wages) which everyone and their dog is saying is the problem with the US.

In regards to energy - they are one of the worlds largest exporters of natural gas, and the only reason they import crude from other countries is to mix it with their shale crap so it can be easily cracked in their current old, crappy refining infrastructure. If they need more capacity they can upgrade their refining capability or make friends with Venezuela (worlds biggest reserves) to get more quality oil locally. Up north they have Canada which has plenty of shale reserves. Energy is not a problem for them.

In regards to food - They have some of the most fertile soil on the planet and they are the biggest agricultural exporter in the world. They also import a lot of food...where does most of it come from? Mexico and Canada. The US produce a lot of stuff that is subsidised and exported like Corn & Soy but if things went bad a as a nation (like your wet dream of WW3) how long do you think it would take for them to turn it around and focus on domestic production? The only reason they import food now is because they can.

I believe America’s undoing will be social decay. They are fast becoming a third world country.

They are currently being invaded by large numbers of unvetted  third worlders across an open border, they have a huge problem with drug addiction, homelessness, retail theft and violent crime, their infrastructure is crumbling and they seem at times to be on the verge of civil war with very large groups of angry people armed with assault rifles confronting each other.

The new requirements include:

- An 820 mm clear operuing(aminimert 87o mm
wide door)
- Doorway thresholds are step free (up to 5mm step
or small threshold ramp are allowed)
Corridors are 1000 mm minimum wide on the entry
level and along the path of travel to the accessible
shower (if on another level)
One toilet with a minimum 900 mm by 1200 mm
clear space in front. The vanity carnot be placed in
this space and doors cannot open into it. The towet
must be on the entry level even if there are no other
rooms on that level
One hobless and step-free shower (can have a lip up
to 5 mm)
Reinforced walls around the hobless shower,
accessible toilet and bath (if provided) for the
future installation of grabrails
Increase in energy efficiency from 6 stars to 7stars
on the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme
(NatHERS) and introduction of a whole of house'
assessment

No wonder the vast majority of Australians now think Politicians and their brain dead  bureaucrats are lower than four legged vermin,  that crap is outrageous!  I'm not meaning to offend anyone in a wheelchair.  However  I can't even remember the last time I have seen a person in a wheelchair let alone accommodate one on the off chance I might sell my house to them!  Wouldn't it make more sense for a potential wheelchair bound home buyer to consider a retrofit to address their needs after purchasing the property?
