Has anyone been following recent issues in Canada - inflation, food costs, housing etc. also talk about a 25% hike in fuel costs coming up in April. seems to be the same issues as here, but maybe a tad worse than here.
Then there is the US - excessive crime and homelessness. These issues are now over flowing into Canada…. There also seems to be a bigger than normal and growing amount of noise and huge amount of resentment building in the States about immigrants. Same noise that is occuring here but on a larger scale there…
Common issues around the world but I must admit about being surprised Canada is also experiencing high levels of growing resentment too. Plus, there is side talk about Canada now being in recession….
Anyone here have any Canuck friends that care to comment. Is it really that bad over there….
It just seems the western death spiral is gaining momentum….

Canada's issues seem largely around Trudeau's wokery. Authoritarianism, poor fiscal policy and insane levels of immigration are ruining the place. Note that the immigration to Canada is very different to the US. It isn't hordes of illegals. It is hordes of very wealthy Chinese who are driving housing costs through the roof. A comparison of Canada/US border towns invariably has the cost of living on the Canada side far higher.

On a Canadian podcast I listen to they often mention the high number of homeless encampments and huge drug-related problems in these camps.

I've seen a lot of noise from Canadians in social media about how the cost of living is becoming destructive for them. I don't know specifics but I'd imagine it's very similar to what we're experiencing here, with the unfortunate addition of a super power neighbour who's looking more and more like they just want to have an internal mud wrestle. I'd have thought that there's no better time to capitalise off the US's instability for the popularity vote. "Yeah, things are expensive as heck here and we're struggling, but at least we're not pointing guns at each other". And yet for some reason that's not cutting it with the population. So they must be REALLY over all of the shenanigans.

There is that in some areas.. On the west coast of Canada mostly in a few of the larger southern coastal communities.. Most of the rest of the province seems immigrants from India.. It seems an anchor immigrant immediately starts sponsoring there extended family ..some seemingly very large extended families.. And as it turns out possibly with a superficial or very little vetting.. As in the case of the extended family truck driver who T boned a school bus of hockey team, sponsors and families killing many..
Also as long as an immigrant applicant is 29 or less, has a minimum buzz word education, and from a favored country ...America is NOT a favored country, not even a tolerated country.. Or if an illegal entry refugee claiming asylum for ..fill in the blank.. They are afforded the ..golden ticket.. of housing, health care, and all other living expenses..
On the west coast.. It the larger population areas most homeless are of mixed origin, and like many places, many with either substance addicted or with mental issues.. The balance of the province homeless seems to be First Nation ..North American Indian.. origin that have been kicked off the reserves and such mostly for the same bad behavior they continue to exhibit in the homeless areas..
In the western provinces one or a few of the larger population cities, areas can out vote the whole rest of the province.. Probably the same in many US states...
These are things I observed when I lived there..

Yes it was the west coast I was referring to. The scam at the time was to use Qebec's lax entry requirements (basically you had to lend the Quebec gov $700k) then as soon as they were in they'd move to BC.
