Not good a second stabbing attack. A well known Bishop, I have previously viewed some of his YT vids. His supporters looked really mad.

That's only if they are diagnosed And they won't seek help because of the stigma. And the consequences of the diagnosis.

The church stabbing now declared a terrorist attack. What is of concern is the response by the community. They called the police for assistance then after the perpetrator is in custody forced the police to barricade themselves in the church and await backup with proper transport for the perpetrator.
20 police vehicles damaged of which 10 now inoperable. Such a small incident and police not responsible for any bad behavior. What happens when things really go south like a banking holiday, or EMP and power outages, internet down and commerce stopped. It shows high potential for sectors of the community to go nuts....

The cops got off lightly! Down there they are absolutely mistrusted and hated by most of the ethnic population, what the Politicians and Police did to those people in that section of Sydney during Covid was pretty outrageous and they haven't forgotten it. Calling in the Riot Squad was also pretty stupid, if there is one guaranteed way to turn a "Mob Gathering" into a full blown "Riot" just send those dekkheds in!

The police swiched from friends to enemies during medical apartheid. Add to that, these guys have recently seen police protect hamas supporters again and again. Not hard to see why they reacted that way.

I think this is a case of someone falling through the mental health gaps. You could run the opera house through those gaps. We used to put these people in institutions, there used to be at least one of these in the towns I grew up in. They have closed them all. We try and medicate them while out in the public space now and a mass murder every year or two is cheaper than opening them up again.
I'd prefer to see institutions for child criminals to be more prolific. They pose a more consistent problem to society. Places like Alice Springs would be quite nice if child crime was properly dealt with.

do you mean like the institutions in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, where guards brutalised the children, and many of those children went on to a hardcore life of crime. eg: Neddy Smith

The problem is a lack of respect by youth. Mr Inbetween knows how to fix this:

What evidence is there that the current 'do nothing' approach is preventing them from going onto a life of crime, welfare dependence and fatherless homes?

Not suggesting nor implying the system is working. Merely pointing out potential issues going back to the old ways.

going back to the old ways was never mentioned. you made that up. More institutions to deal with the problem children was what was said.

Not "made up" but in hindsight I should have explained my point better. I consider institutions 'old ways' but agree they have there place for the most extreme of cases.
However, I don't believe building more institutions and locking up more kids is the answer. I think that will lead to more hardened criminals when they are adults (not all but a fair percentage).
And whilst institutions these days might not be as brutal as those from the 50's, 60's and 70's, the more there are, the more chance for brutality, especially if the kids lack respect.
