Aus gov censorship, Church Stabbing

1 minute of searching on our national broadcaster revealed 3 potential pieces of misinformation.

1. Clearly her photos is not unaltered. misinformation.

2. a headline quote “We shouldn't be calling children 'terrorists'. We should be calling children 'children'," WTF? 

3. another headline quote “Australia shouldn’t tolerate terrorism- but out normalisation of “intimate partner terrorism has become a national emergency”. A new bandwagon formed after a nut job apparently targeted women with a knife. Misinformation at it’s best. They guy was nil behind the eyes, he like.y had no idea what he was doing. totally unrelated issues. 

Everyone here should have been prepared for this “misinformation” issue. Heck theres been truckloads of it here too. for me it's business as usual. 

Lets see 'em try and ban X. May as well try to stop the tide coming in. Pick your battles Mr Prime Minister, you wont win this one.

I doubt that...know many wealthy people? Ones that have done it all off their own bat? They despise government, it constrains their style. They can do a lot more within the world of business to change they world as they see fit - for better or worse. There are way, way, WAY worse people than Elon. They are silent and work behind the scenes and in the shadows.

As for misinformation, past performance of govt and their lackies, is lies and misinformation, dictatorship, taking rights, giving no protection, going outside their lane. My free will, and free thought are not up for debate, nor are they for sale, the govt can get stuffed, sit on a splinter and rotate.

Firstly I don't think a video of a stabbing amounts to 'free speech'.

Whilst I'm all for free speech there needs to be limits. I think we will all agree about the need to censor child sexual abuse so it comes down to a question of what level of graphic content is acceptable. I don't think there's a need to show real life videos of stabbings just like there is no need to show videos of real beheadings. We get enough of that in TV and movies. I don't care if the victim wants it shown - I see that as just him wanting attention for his cause. A 'martyr' that sees any publicity as good publicity.

Having said that I agree that Australia cannot 'dictate' to the rest of the world about what can be viewed online.

When it comes to free speech and mis-information/dis-information, I feel that a variety of opinions are needed to make an informed decision. The problem is that the majority of people make up their minds pretty quickly without knowing all the evidence and then they can't be swayed by any argument no matter how logical or scientific the evidence may be. That can lead some individuals to extremism which is what the government and law enforcement are trying to prevent. However, making laws to enable the banning of mis or dis information is very dangerous. Once a party has that power they can label anything as mis or dis information, and it won't be long before an unscrupulous government labels anything from their opposition as mis or dis information.

It wasn't even a real stabbing it was more like a clubbing!  My sources tell me the dickhead had a folding knife that didn't properly lock open when he decided to attack!  There were reports that he had his "fingers cut off" but what I've heard is the blade actually folded up on his hand!  In the video you can even see the "what ther fark?" moment when he stops clubbing and actually looks at his mangled fingers!
