Anyone watching the Olympics? Anyone care?
When I was a teenager, all I'd watch was women's gymnastics - one year I was madly in love with the Romanian women's team. I even found an old vhs tape ages ago where I had recorded them. LOL.
Now, don't care!!!

I prefer the winter events more so than the summer games.. But am pretty disappointed in the winter games since they don't cover Biathlon.. I helped teach Firearms Safety Class to members of Biathlon clubs in a couple different places..
My favorite opening or closing ceremony to watch was when Slim Dusty sang Waltzing Matilda...

Years ago back in South Africa the cricket team was found betting and purposefully throwing games to make money. All sport has gone professional supported by gambling, corruption drugging is so high there is no value in sport any more. Have not watched any sport event in 15 years. There is now big focus on woman sports rugby /soccer etc. no idea never watch a game.

Why would I want to pay to see someone else do their hobby?

I've got better things to do, like watching the grass grow. Its all rigged and despite the touting of drug free Olympics, it isn't, they just haven't found out how to test for more sophisticated drugs that are now available. Then there is the outright cheating and betting against your own team, much harder to police and no doubt happening. Not worth my time even watching the highlights on the news.
I hope WW3 is more interesting !!
The days of the digital watch are numbered.

I'll watch it if it's on, but it really depends on the sport. I also have always enjoyed the gymnastics because the sheer power and skill always had me in awe. There's a british gymnast on youtube that I watch pretty often, he's hilarious to watch when he tries to do things that the women do and fails abysmally because obviously they're two very different sports. Occasionally I'd watch the equestrian events. But given that I don't watch free to air tv anymore it's rare for me to come across it by happenstance.
Honestly, I've never been into spectator sports. I've never really understood watching a sport for the enjoyment of watching it. I'd rather play the sport myself. And given I'm not enormous on team sports (ultimate frisbee is stupid fun though!) in general and being traumatised with weekend sports that I hated throughout my childhood I tend to just not have anything to do with the whole thing.

I’d watch it if jelly wrestling was an Olympic sport.
Although Indid just watch the most amazing gymnast on the planet, a young Chinese girl who can lay flat and make her legs run around her body.

Was on the 7 am ABC news. No specifics, but hinted it was hacking and disruption to scheduling etc. No physical damage mentioned.

Opening ceremony... I watched most of it.. I always like to see the athletes enter.. Funny to watch it all in the rain.. There were some very impressive boats they rode on the river Sein (spelling?) The light show from the Eifel Tower was nice.. This was all shown tonight from about 20 to 22;30 hours local time..
One country, I don't recall who, only had one athlete.. Several countries only had 2-3-4 athletes.. Australia had 400+, US had almost 500, France had the most at almost 600..
Didn't care for Lady Gaga, I think it was.. The fashion show and some of the dancing could have been left out, but that is just my opinion..
Anyone else see the show ??

Not that I had much interest in this to begin with, but mocking the Last Supper using drag queens is just wrong. Vague disinterest is now a boycott.

I think, in the interests of balance and diversity, the closing ceremony should mock important events from the Islamic religion. And the event organisers should have their residential addresses made public.

I've watched bits of some events as they were on as I waited for local news time.. It has been fun to see.. One thing I was particularly proud of.. An American mens relay swim team won gold and at there medal ceremony they all sang the words to the national anthem as it played..
Rumor has it that many experts of some kind saying this opening ceremony was the worst ever.. Can't help but agree..

I’m watching some events on the ch9 app. you get to pick and choose what you watch. I’m trying to find the shotgunning highlights without much success. I’ll also watch the track and field. Go aussies!
