Rain would be nice, especially after cultivation and planting out is finished. Perhaps tomorrow, 60 % chance of some....
I don't know how to act my age, I've never been this old before.

When I was a kid on the ranch, weather was the thing we mostly prepared for 365... To take care of livestock and ourselves..
Last week when the thunderstorm went through here the power was off for about 4 hours.. No big deal to most right ?? Here at the ..Wrinkle Ranch.. senior housing that meant as well as dark there was no elevator.. A big portion of the residents here can't do stairs.. Or can only do a few stairs, certainly NOT multiple floors of stairs.. So a number of people were stranded in the community room until the power came on.. I brought one of my battery camp lanterns to sit around kind of like a small campfire gathering.. It helped comfort some of the more jittery residents..

I honestly don't know anymore. According to the BOM, last summer was going to be the worst summer in our region for a long time but it didn't eventuate. A lot of cattle farmers sold of their stock early or cheaply, or didn't buy at all because they expected to run out of feed. That didn't eventuate and a lot of people got really bent over because of it. I'll always be prepped for poor weather just because I think that's one of the things that is most likely to impact on us. But I think I'll just spend more time talking to locals that have been farming in the area of the last forty years!

1mm rain in a short storm overnight. Things do look slightly greener, probably just the dust rinsed off !
All our paddocks have shelter sheds for the stock, (and other wildlife like 'roos) to shelter in in bad weather. Also all have water tanks and water troths attached.
I keep the radio aerials disconnected and earthed unless actually using a radio, just in case. Also the fuel shed has a solid copper earth rod 3 meters in the air, attached to an earth stake with 75 mm sq cable, just in case...
Just because I'm awake doesn't mean I'm ready to do things.
