Because at some point, you have to have an end state. Even if you don't agree with the outcome. Otherwise there's literally no point to having a voting system in the first place. Might as well start bashing each other over the head until someone wins. Doesn't sound to fun to me heh.
I think in Australia, for the most part we have more trust that our system is better policed (for want of another word). I know that's an anathema to a lot of folks here but the reality is that we do have a pretty stable, well-managed voting process that I think is a bit less vulnerable to one any one specific party's shenanigans. I don't think it's INvulnerable, but I think the chances for it to be significantly skewed one specific way are a bit lower than the US.
I would never say never of course. But I do think there's more chance of interference in the US in general because everything's managed at the state level and there's so many more states to work through. Just more points for failure.

Just ask China about the one child policy. Within 50 years there will be no race known as the Chinese, the Govt is desperately trying to encourage ladies to have babies, but its not working.

Do we actually trust the government to count the votes correctly? Look at other countries/ nations , long history of vote rigging in one way or another , Would it be nieve thinking it doesn't happen here ? No one talks about the subject Yes. I have scrutineered at a polling place. The numbers I saw were accurately represented in the official poll. Ballot boxes do not leave the room prior to counting finishing. |

The only way I can see that you could scam it would be to show up in multiple places to vote, choosing random names of people who live in the electorate. Victoria does not require voter ID, so it would work there.

We've been watching a few different sources. Some right, some left, some centrists. The over-riding vibe is that it's being treated like a football game, no matter what the source. It's any wonder Americans treat the political race like it's a part of their personality. The way it's being reported it's almost like it's not real. The results are just who wins on the day and it doesn't matter what happens afterwards. It feels SO bizarrely dystopian.

I have. To be honest, I understand. When you look at what the Heritage Foundation wants for America, and the fact that two thirds of Trump's administration comes from their author/editor group, I'd be scared of my future and the future of my family in that country too.
Edit to add: I don't want to imply that I think Harris would fix ANYTHING. I'm not certain anyone could now. But when I look at who's visibly got influence over Trump, those people scare the stuffing out of me. The Heritage Foundation and Elon Musk. Yikes.
I suppose the only benefit is they're visible. We have no idea who's pulling Harris's strings.

Well, it's over. Trump has been declared the winner with 277 of 270.
Now the really scary time begins. Here's hoping America as a whole keeps it's wits about it and remembers that no matter what anyone says it's enemies aren't it's own people.
