Just my opinion, Survivalists are different from Preppers.
Survivalists focus more on the ability to survive in open country/field/wilderness. Usually rely on the natural sources as their means to survival. Lesser equipment carried and more focused on skills.
Preppers would have alternative locations (BOL) from their current location and would have preps and homesteading as their sources of survival. Would have more equipment and have a reliance on skills.

That's how I see the two, some overlap maybe, for example if you lose your BOL or things go all Mad Max you may have to become a survivalist.

its a hard one, my opinion is going to be out there
both are so closely related its not funny, I like overlords definition....
but if I was to define the two, a survivalist is the foundation of a prepper...
I can't pick the right example... its like having twins, there DNA is so closely matched that its difficult to separate the two...
but as overlord said, a survivalist is happy with nothing, where a prepper has vast stores... but to be with a prepper mindset, you would start with a survivalist mindset, as at the end of the day both have the end goal of surviving what comes

"Survivalism is a movement of individuals or groups (called survivalists or preppers) who are actively preparing for emergencies, including possible disruptions in social or political order, on scales from local to international. Survivalists often acquire emergency medical and self-defense training, stockpile food and water, prepare to become self-sufficient, and build structures (e.g., a survival retreat or an underground shelter) that may help them survive a catastrophe."
From the actual definition I see it as the same! And call it what you will, the end game is the same! The only difference is in people themselves!
They either are serious about being prepared or just couch preppers!
and as John F. Kennedy said: "The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining."

Yes, I understand OL!
A Survivalist is someone how can Survive in a survival situation, lives off the land ETC...(Suppose to anyway...LOL)
And a prepper is someone that prepares for a disaster situation so he can survive!
And it said on the Web, I was handsome... So you could be right...LMFAO...

I put my foot in my mouth again.... I meant to say "the Web tells the truth..." i read that I was handsome too... LOL
Locally, most people don't understand the concepts behind. I admit am a prepper but not much of a survivalist (am not that hardcore and not that fit/healthy) like a friend of mine who I have regular discussions with on the merits and de-merits of both systems.
