Parents who left war torn Europe with nothing ,who knew what it was like to be homeless and hungry, Who always stored food and water ,grew their own food ,and had a deep distrust of any government Sounds like preppers back then doesn't it?

Hey Grumble, good to see you here. Please sign up. Hey ya GN
I think I will it seems like a reasonable place over here nice people and less BS about conspiracies man I hate that stuff I want to read about someone's latest misadventure or their little home made chook farm not the latest's theory on 9/11 or how the economy is going to crash in October 2013 then 2014 then 2015 and now its this year I guess they will get it right one day
Once things get quite and I have time to spend posting and contributing a lot more I will join up at the moment I am abit tied up working and helping some elderly neighbours get their homes ready for winter you know just cleaning out their fire places making sure there are surprises living in the chimney cutting them some fire woodstuff like that
[ Welcome mate There are a lot of refugees from that other site here Like u they are not into conspiracies etc and find this site very pleasant and friendly and devoid of rude arrogant slanging Well done moderators!

I'm talking about drilling a hole to put a screw and star plug into, not a hole that would fit a basketball... Think about the bigger picture come on !!!!

Seriously though, a question about non-power tools... How does one drill a hole into masonry (especially hard brick & grano) without power tools? I've only ever brought out the hammer drill, but I can't see a brace/cog drill doing the trick. 375 cheetah fmj Job done! I meant 375 cheytac or 50 bmg

Early warning of incoming people thru patrolling , neighbours ,alarms dogs etc Correct identification then dealing with the threat via sniper fire( especially to buy time) or coordinated ambush and overwhelming force so no one gets away to give the position away Backed up with a fortified defensive position with good avenues of fire Force multipliers like thermal and night vision vital That's the plan anyway Sounds good but long way off

Most of us don't trust the media Both for opsec and make us look like nut cases The Internet provides many learning opportunities without the publicity

Nobody really knows how they would react until they are in that situation. All I can say for myself is a very long time ago I was in several situations that involved loaded firearms, (gun loaded, finger on the trigger), that I was prepared to shoot someone but didn't need to, and that on 1 occasion I had a loaded revolver pushed into my stomach. On that occasion I stayed completely calm and diffused the situation by acting very non aggressively. My mother also stayed very calm when she was the victim of a home invasion by 2 men armed with a sawn off shotgun, even when they tied her up. Perhaps it runs in the family. As for my children turning on me? They are my world, we are very close, and that is far too horrible to contemplate. I couldn't hurt my children, I'd rather die myself. A violent life or death situation is something few of us experience in our lives unless you are emergency services Thinking thru scenarios like home invasion angry mobs etc, then discussing researching and training for them gives you a course of action to follow in a very stressful situation In our meets we have an ex cop and he adds a lot to training for such an unfamiliar stressful scenario

I think u will find this is a much friendlier site than some others without the strong personalities of some other sites Aussurvivalist have a " newcomer corner" where there" is no such thing as a stupid question" and I hope you will find that attitude here

Ring kids and get them asap Ring wife to fill jerry cans at local servo ( 5 km away) On way home nursery for seedlings and bulk stock feed purchased These are just top ups and would only be done if safe and feasible as they are not too far away Panic trips to supermarket are to be avoided And food / water / ammo etc are already covered Speak to neighbours check comms Frock up into patrol order The whole point of prepping is to avoid last minute crowd panic
