Guard duty 24/7 and for multiple avenues of approach is a huge resource allocation and is a major reason for getting a group

I wonder what levels of activity/ energy expenditure where of the volunteers in this study After shtf preppers are going to be very very busy and active On one hand I don't think we will have time to get depressed withdrawn etc but on the other hand teotwawki will create a whole new level of psychological stress I just find being busy motivated and goal directed is much healthier even if you are hungry We are all going to loose weight and get fit!!!!

We have a cottage on the property we rent out and have had several Singaporean families stay Nice people but live in big city apartments The kids are sterile!! Don't like walking in mud ,collecting eggs that have shit and hay on them ,firewood for heating(dirty) no internet , and feeding animals that slobber over them!! Don't know where their food comes from Big city apartment dwellers like these will struggle after shtf, not only because of the difficult situation they live in but also lack of skills

and our best defence against China is our close economic ties. Why would they go to the risk and expense of invading us when they can buy our produce and raw materials at a good price? The only invasion we're likely to face, IMO, is from refugees, and the current government seems to have that in hand at the moment. Hey frost Us Victorians are counting on you northerner s to stop the invading hordes before they get to the Murray!

Good luck It's great fun and very rewarding but lotsa hard work Agree with Fractus:you need and overall plan and look at lots of options Even then you end up changing and redoing things as your needs change and you find what works for you in your climate

I have not bothered with the chest seals as when tshtf how do you treat a sucking chest wound? Fair enough seal it up front and back but what then? is this not fatal without a proper hospital? What are the options? Leave it and let them die reasonably quickly, try your best and have them in agony for days but still dieing anyway or is there another option ? my knowledge is limited so am open to suggestions! No not true most penetrating chest injuries settle without surgery unless youve had a major vascular injury the reason you put an occlusive dressing on is to stop air moving in and out ad you breathe thru an open chest wound and your lung remains collapsed an occlusive dressing stops the true and.fro movement of air thru the chest wall and if u.can convert.it into.a one way valve the lung will re expand ambos have one way chest drains and hospitals do this regularly but an occlusive chest.dressing is better than nothing and you will survive!

We had a good discussion re fak at last meet as i am a "bug inner" my ifak just consists of quick clot trauma bandage trauma tourniquet antiseptic and steristrips cars fops patrols etc have abig bag of victorian dressings( minor and major trauma) ivs ,eye first aid, antibiotics, airway equipment, stretchers,, splints and bandages (stabilise and get back home)
i intend to set up a resuscitation / first aid area at home i am reluctant to suture/ wound manage in the field as it is easier to do more in a well stocked central resus area with local anaesthetic s sutures antibiotics etc cleaner conditions better lighting assistance and equipment

something I've thought about at times, a retrans site in an elevated position, with a radio, a logbook, and a 338 lapua magnum Luckily I have someone in my group who is a professional in this very thing. we use uhf radios in cars and on person like yourself have toyed with the idea of hilltop op aerial size seems to be important in reception as car units receive much better than portable units
