it's a political thing, so how will politicians advertise the state of the dollar??
I see a overnight collapse of the $$ is on the cards, but there will be a massive amount of warning signs..
cost of living is one of the warning signs so your kinda spot on with your assessment, power and such won't be cut off over night tho...
it's not my version of the collapse of society, once it collapses it will lead to another form of trade run by a "independent power" cough UN cough (this will be the collapse of our way of life)

yea I have my doubts on the effects of emps on vehicles, there are always new studies and "secrete" studies on the topic, power grids and generators will go down, I'm just not 100% sure on cars and trucks

it is, for a tempered environment going minimal physical labour, one your body starts taking on stress, a intensive task, or heat the body needs more, in some desert climate it's recommended to consume more than 12L a day
your 4.5L start carry sounds almost perfect (and my carry to) for a sub tropical - tropical climate, with the ability to produce clean water daily...
and your talking 1.5kg, I bet there are other areas where you could cut that weight..
trying not to pick on the topic, but the original water carry is perfect for a day, (and a coffee in the morning) and was well thought out (and I bet with research) and you want to be in the best possible shape over the first few days especially when you're bugging out, stopping to get water writhin half a day of bugging out, or start rationing in the really early stages could prove to be a mistake (I could be wrong) it's another thing people think, read 2L a day is perfect to survive, you have to ask where

stick with the 4.5 litres... on a hot day you would consume more than that... keep that in mind when planing water (and for the sake of 1.5kg it's well worth it )

um we have a lot of knife and gun restrictions, at least in the UK you can do more firearm sports, here your class h firearm is restricted to 10 round capacity, that's put a massive dampening to the sport...
Australia doesn't have the protection of the US 2nd amendment, we don't even have a bill of rights...
we don't have any right to bear arms, and to purchase a firearm is a lot of red tape (this should be as far as our laws go) but then you are restricted on what's actually available, and they update these laws all the time because "they feel like it" it's a joke and proves we are a police state
the UK is slightly further than us in a police state policies, there is a camera on every street corner, but the UK has always been restricted in what they do...
get use to it, the she'll be right mate attitude of the Australian population, more restrictions are to come, give it time we won't be able to go out at night because it's "too dangerous" will it be then when. it's too late that Australia will realize that it's a police state?? where any uprising will last seconds not years, and anyone that speaks out "disappears to Christmas island"

Guantanamo bay is a off shore "processing facility" that's outside usa constitutional laws
that's what made it a good site to hold terrorists
it is what it is, but Australia is miles ahead of the USA in being a police state, want proof?? go to a gun shop and ask what's the process in purchasing a working g11 rifle or a ak47 or a ar15......
go to the USA and ask the same question... (we all know the response)
the first steep in becoming a police state is remove the means to start a uprising

well as a military asset... a drone is awesome to Australia becoming like America, we are already a police state, America still has a wile to go before that line is crossed
here you can be arrested and held without trial...

raaf have had drones for a wile now, and they have been used in the hunt for boat people, I doubt our government will go the same parth as the USA, civilian agencies don't need them, they have plenty of other forms of surveillance

if your really interested in these types of stories, the paper weekend Australian, it's one of the better ones to study
just keep in mind to, aspi done a report on what Australia needs is a nuclear fueled submarine fleet, this was written in response to a defence white paper that had Australia needs to replace our current fleet of subs by 2020
it's a government think tank that trys to stay independent... it's not perfect.. but for every quality article that's release there is a lot of fantasy

actually I don't own any semi auto hand guns, the question came up in a American forum and I was trying to get my head around the cause, as I really like the m&p series firearms, and do plan on getting one myself oh just to.clear things up, your more than.welcome to come and visit me, I will have a cold rum and coke, the thing is, have to find me first so both counts opsec maintained (I hope) but the firearm question is to remove a worry... investing the time and the cash to get a class h and the firearm.. the outlay I want to do it right, the limits on purchasing (the 1 in your first year in qld) any concern, rings many alarm bells, and I want my first hand gun to be a enjoyable experience, not a too hard basket heap of junk that I wasted a lot of time and cash in getting, knowing me I wouldn't get a replacement

note on my order list
if you do order this, order the cooking pots and stuff that come in a package, apparently (on good advice) it's the best way to go
if I ever get around to ordering one will post a review
