The Australians of today are mostly weak, pathetic, complainers who lack work ethic, physical and technical proficiency required for self-sustainment in a conflict zone let alone to be capable of combat, the ability to endure difficult times and stand up for what they believe. I know, sounds like I hate Australia right... you couldn't be more wrong. I love Australia so much that I'm honest with my assessment of it's current condition because I know we can do better. We should be doing better. But we don't have to worry about an invasive army, we've stopped breeding, we're muzzling ourselves with things like political-correctness and allowing laws and regulations to be passed which take the fate of our country out of the hands of the people and put it into the elected oligarchy. Don't worry about a foreign invasion in 10 years. The domestic terror threat will spew forth it's hate upon Australia again but this time it'll be born and bred here, and it'll happen a lot sooner than that. Now for the purpose of the thread, if we're being invaded, it will be for our resources. And they will kill every last one of us, might sound defeatist but them's the breaks. I agree with most of the above but i reckon a lot of it has to do with Australian psychology ( broad generalisation here). Unlike the Americans who have been brought up with Insurrection and civil war and dont trust their government. We on the other hand are a country that's always been told what to do (convicts). Told by the British to storm the beaches of Gallipoli, Told your either with us or against us on the war on terror. We are compliant by nature, especially when new laws are passed. When the French government tried to raise the age for retirement the people rioted in the streets for weeks, they overturned cars and set fire to them. The government backed down. We on the other hand just ed and moaned then rolled over and took it up the A**E. Good convict!!!!! Then again it dos'ent take much for the sheeple to roll over and not give a shit about whats happening to this country. Offer them a ten dollar gift voucher from Coles and you wouldnt have heard a peep out of anyone. Let the government take care of it I'm to busy watching Home and Away!!!!! Rant over As for Invasion, As mentioned earlier the Chinese are already here. They already have large stakes in Dairy, agriculture and Mining. If part of a deal with buying a mine is to staff half the workforce with Chinese workers you could have a false flag event where some catastrophe took place and a third of the chinese workforce were killed or injured. This would give the Chinese a reason to come in with a small "security force" to protect its workers at the mine site. Our government would jump up and down but do nothing as it would not want to offend our "friends" Fantasy? maybe.

I'm not sure that is possible. If America were to start the process of a NWO or try and lead a one world govt the Chinese would IMO shut us down. I'm no expert on the subject but I read somewhere that they could shut down our economy with a few mouse clicks. My understanding is that it has to do with all the debt owed them and they could make the dollar completely worthless. Apparently the Chinese are buying up business districts in strategic locations... ...definately Australia- apparently ;>

Even if Australia is not invaded directly, all the conflicts occurring in the world, Asia, Middle East, Europe, USA, will cause issues with our export and import business. Think of all the cheap clothing we get from China etc. I think we would be fairly food self sufficient but other items may be an issue. - fair enough food might not be a problem but economys and therefore most jobs and peoples ability to pay off their mortgage rely on more than the ability to buy and sell food-stuffs... all leading to chaos! Economys are complex systems, but as for food you are correct in that without it the situation could be worse!

People that say we can easily make our own food are kidding themselves. Factor in the farming and logistical reliance on oil and we've got a slim chance of producing enough food for 22 million people, let alone getting it from farm to plate, without the population losing their sanity and turning this place into downtown Mosul. I'm talking about diesel/petrol and the oil required to lubricate and maintain the farming machinery and the logistics train, even everything from the simple chainsaw to the road train that gets things from farm to city.
From memory we refine around 1/3 of the oil we use onshore, basically the government would need to enforce that all non-commercial vehicles would have to go without fuel just for us to produce enough to eat and get it to the pissed off masses.

It's that 22 million that would get us, we can't even contemplate defending the country without some sort of population, but we cant self sustain or feed it with it, the worst thing is 22 million is a piss poor number anyway.

Thank you for all the replies I was not expecting such an overwhelming response.
Years ago when I was a wee lad I overheard an ex sas telling my father which (in case my memory was being warped) he confirmed recently, that in world war 2 there was a line drawn in the sand at the south Aus border that if an invasion was started here in Aus we in the west would be left to our own devices Now several years on they have come across all the more resources than back in the day. So my belief is that if there was an invasion it would be here in the west most likely. Personally I believe the government would just roll over, still as they would not be able to support us so that leaves me and mine in a rather precarious position. I believe I would be among the fighters but that would also mean everything I have gained would be, if not lost useless except for ammo weapons and food. Where I work I know that disrupting our infrastructure would not take very much in the way of bombing, exploding or just downright turning off a switch and then most of Perth would be without water fuel electricity and within days food, I also know that if it were a coordinated threat it would only take mere minutes for it to all come collapsing down which in turn would create utter panic which in turn would make taking over quite easy especially the majority of the population the rest of us could then be hunted down at their pleasure. Now to the crux of the questions I don't know as being born and bred in West Aus and never having left here for holidays or exploration I really do not understand how other parts of the world function as in a "communist china". Food and water I don't think will be too much of a problem to begin with as I have access to easily obtained underground water not known publicly, food I have several large supermarkets with dry, canned and frozen foods plus several livestock farms within a 20 km radius, my car is gas which does not require a pump as the gas is pressurized and I have adapters to be able to get the gas required(as long as someone doesn't leave the valve on) plus on the food side I have been known to hunt regularly. Again ammo and the like within the first day or 2 I can get my hands on several thousand rounds that public do not know about or have access to all within 20 km from home I am not a big target as I live somewhat on the outskirts in the bush and not in a town or city even getting deliveries by mail, fails as the post office can't find me lol The only thing I lack is electric making ability but I do know within 3 km there is many solar set-ups that I could pilfer I have access to a fully functioning workshop welding bay myself being a welder by trade so I can then fortify any and all modes of transport or requirements. I am within walking distance to a fully fortified but not secured underground publicly unknown area to live in and hide in. Not sure what else I am missing or what else I haven't thought of covering Any ideas very welcome

If Indo or China wanted us taken over it would be over in a matter of hours. Let's do some number comparisons. Although training here is superior sheer force and numbers would overwhelm us. Personnel (Navy, Airforce & Army : Australia : 56,992 Active, 23,232 Active reserve & 22,166 Standby reserve China : 2,253,000 Active, 510,000 reserve and Standby reserve Indonesia : 434,410 Active, 400,000 reserve Vehicles : Australia : 123 Aircraft, 1,523 Land Vehicles (from tanks to IFV's to APC's), Roughly 120 ships and amphibious vehicles. China : 3,839 Aircraft, 21,195 Land Vehicles (everything from tanks and armoured vehicles to sams and artillery, About 495 ships and amphibious vehicles. Indonesia : Roughly 400 Aircraft, Land Vehicles : 1,815, 197 ships and amphibious vehicles. Budget : Australia $29.3 billion AUD China : $132 billion USD Indonesia : $8 billion USD All in all China could take Australia over if they wanted to but it would be a big hassle, Indonesia could take Australia over but they would suffer heavy loses in doing so and would struggle and probably lose control of us over-time. As for me i'm heading out my door with my Cams and a Balaclava, oh wait did I mention the rifle I would have with me shoots the same round both said countries use in all their Machine-guns and Marksman weapons.

My opinion
If we are ever invaded it will be jihad from Indonesia! 10 million unemployed Islamic young men! And they hate us it will not be occupation it will be obliteration
They just need a trigger event! then they are over here in tens of thousands of wooden fishing boats a few freighters and a dozen or so commercial jets
Then it is party time party like there is no tomorrow as there probably wont be

The reason for strategic alliances is so that we DON'T get invaded and we happen to be allied and have fairly decent relationships with the biggest, best trained and best equipped super power in the world. We also happen to have similar alliances with NZ, England and so on. History has shown that breaking strategic alliances in times of war prove incredibly unfavorable and has rarely been done. Despite our gun laws there's still plenty of people who can shoot [one of the reasons we were so good in WW1 and WW2] and despite the whiners, despite the freeloaders [48% of families pay zero net tax] we've still got a core of hard workers and sheep dogs [people who take on the wolves] and the Aussie spirit of looking after your mates in trouble is rife. You don't need a huge number of the population here. Also, like Russia we have a VAST amount of land we can retreat and disappear into. How are you going to hold such an area of land successfully and not have resistance blowing your military budget? It costs very little to run a resistance campaign. How do you hold cities that are sprawling suburbs of houses in which a person with a scope and gun becomes a sniper? Urban warfare the most equaling for defenders despite the occupying forces. Sure you could get a hole of the list and round people up, though to do so you'll also have to have control of that territory. W If in the very unlikely scenario it happened, I'd do my best at resisting. The Swiss [and therefore more applicable compared to the jungles of Vietnam] manual for resistance, aka 'Total resistance' is a classic book for such events. "This is a legendary work by the famed Swiss expert on guerrilla warfare, Major H. von Dach. Survivalists have rediscovered this important study on resistance and underground operations, some making it the keystone of their libraries. Well-written and illustrated with easy-to-understand drawings, Total Resistance analyzes and overviews the techniques needed to overcome an invading force, formation of guerrilla units, weapons, food and medical considerations, ambushes, sabotage and much more."

YES Alliances are great and the reason we have not been invaded but big brother is getting old way past his prime.
Yes we do have a vast amount of land we can disappear into And we would die out there too.
We will not be occupied so there could not be any underground resistance supported by the general population We will be obliterated, prisoners will be for short term entertainment only. If any nation needs living space it would be Indonesia.

I have been contemplating lately that Australia seems to be slowly gravitating back towards Britain! I wonder how much support we would get from the USA, and maybe we should be looking for newer alliances or re-establishing older ones? The US will always be about there own interests, if it doesn't help them then they may not be willing to jump,to our aid. As a nation we really should be able to stand on our own two feet, I find it concerning that we are so vulnerable. During ww2 Churchill told the Australian government that Britain was too busy with Europe to help us with the Japanese invasion coming from the north, essentially we were told to deal with it ourselves! we were lucky when the US entered the war. If USA gets too caught up in its own issues we will be on our own again!

Yet again, we are expected by the "international community" to give what we have to others, but no-one else seems to give two hoots about us.

I read a book many years ago called "below the line" and it talks about Indonesia invading Australia and its armed forces TOLD to surrender, with our government agreeing to give Indonesia the top half of Australia to the invaders from Brisbane upwards right across to western Australia to Perth. THAT IS WHY THE BOOK IS CALLED BELOW THE LINE. over in Indonesia they already call the top half of Australia their own and that it is just a matter of taking possession of it. whether such a scenario goes down or not, Indonesia has over 250,000.00 foot troops and can call 1 million men to arms if the need ever arises. Australia with it's armed forces of only a few thousand in each would not stand a chance. if such a thing happens, it will be everyman for himself even with our population disarmed supposedly because of a guy in Tazmania doing his nut with a few rifles, of which was planed by our traitorous government to disarm it's citizens for such a case of invasion by said country in the first place. make no mistake folks those that trust their own government will find themselves in a FEMA like camp as soon as they voice out against them. this world is being set up for a ONE WORLD government under the hand of the coming antichrist, believe it or not.

Spot on FB - our troops are being trained in small, urban combat situations.
But, the take over is being done as we speak - our prime land is being sold to overseas investors (I am not against o/s investment, just the rate it is happening). Speaking with a farmer the other week on the Eyre peninsular, SA, A property on one side was sold for 3.8 million $$$, the other side of their property sold for 3.4 million $$$ - to some very wealthy Arabs. They said they would consider selling with an offer like that ( I begged them to say no ).
I still think we are a military target - our food supply, resources - if news reports are true, there is an oil find in northern SA that could be bigger than any Saudi reserves.
This is a very interesting, but realistic topic, and I love to read everyone elses opinions on this!!!!

I think the success or failure of any invasion will be how many true and armed AUSSIES there are! How many gots and metros will flee with the women and children! And if our PM at the time has a set or not!
