Does anyone have any comments regarding this thread given the news about China's reclaimed islands being built?
I'm currently weighing up the application of these islands as :
1) stepping stones for China to secure a path to Australia (both for invasion and/or logistics immediately post-invasion), 2) ways for China to kick anyone else who tries invading us (whether or not China invades) 3) Ways to keep the US under control in the area 4) Will these islands change the route that other potential invaders may approach us?
Also, it will be interesting if (and to what extent) Australia becomes a battle field between China and the USA if their current pissing contest increases.

On that topic, has anyone seen decent maps of where these islands are? I've only seen speculative diagrams.

Invading is an EXPENSIVE enterprise, it is far cheaper to just pay for our stuff ! They will not care from who though!
The only country we need to fear is Indonesia, most of indonesias internal struggles are sorted, time they found another enemy to fight!
China will buy our ore from whoever can supply!

In terms of violence, what is causal of adult violent behavior has been shown to be early childhood experience. There's also a correlation that violent adults are more likely to have a lower IQ [80 is the mean] as is an increase in being a child of a single mother. The connection with past slavery is 'not' causal as has been shown with the 500,000 Irish who were also slaves in USA, along side the 800,000 African. Yes violence is much higher in African American communities, this is due to a much higher rate of childhood abuse [and hitting is considered normal] single mothers being almost endemic, and unfortunate lower IQ. I'm happy to substantiate any of that. The same can be said [again unfortunately] for our indigenous community.
Many third world countries [would depend where] have elevated levels of abuse to their children and some of course are from war-torn regions and even might have been boy soldiers.
I think it questionable to assume that all such people on boats 'are' a person who might be violent, sure perhaps a higher level of violence. Evidence is evidence, there's plenty of such people who aren't. I also think that 'real' refugees don't go past 20 countries to get to 'safety' and that to call them refugees is ignorant and or a lie. They're clearly looking for a better place to live and it's economic not because they're in desperate danger. If we have boats from New Zealand or New Guinea, then bring them in. ===========================

Mr Pete - These Islands are at the bottom of Japan and they believe they belong to them but Taiwan is the same distance as Japan and this is why Japan are very anxious to say the least. They are 330 miles from China - but 170 miles from Japan and Taiwan also and I heard its against International Law to just 'claim' them. But is it anything different to any country being 'discovered'? But hey we are talking about China. Who is next? North Korea claiming an atol off Hawaii? I believe that its no accident we are seeing a lot more American warships in the area and calling Australia 'home' and I have a bit of a suspicious mind, but I think the ongoing search Australia was involved in the search for the lost MH airline was no accident. What a great opportunity for our air/naval forces to keep an eye on the area. I apologise if I have offended anyone whose family were on that plane. Attachments:
