Awesome infographic. Obviously there is not ultimate way to build your BOB, ie I have moved away from the MOLLE / tactical packs and simply use a hiking bag now. It's all about seeing what works and what doesn't work. Best advice I can give anyway is to get out and truly test your BOB. If the first time you use your BOB is in a survival situation, then you're going to have a bad time.

I reckon any survival situation is a shithouse time regardless of what bag you got , who you're with and even what experience you bring to the task. having said that, the burden sure is a lighter load to bear when you do have kit that you know works well & you have used before.
Personally I don't mind those types of Molle bags at all and a great hiking pack is a beauty to. Whatever works for you though, all good.
Wayno that's a great picture full of info, I like it. Would'nt it be lovely for us all to rock up to Big W and grab a Bulk buy of 10 / 22 rugers with a 25% discount! LoL Prior to 96 we used to by all our guns from Big W.
Out of interest does anybody have a Tent & shovel in their BOB's or Carabinas or fig 8's?

My bags always changing but I always have a trowel in it. I like the U Dig It because I use it as a hammer for stakes as well. Regarding shelter, I either use my hammock or tent. Depends on conditions. My hammock will be I'm BOB most of the time though.

Brilliant guide for beginners, stealing that. One point I would add is about the firearm. A .22 rifle is a good idea for most, but given the weight of the rifle the weight of an extra couple hundred rounds is negligible.
If your taking firearms on foot, weigh the weapon and ammo. Without ammo its just an expensive bat, so take an appropriate quantity.

Great and informative diagram there. It can be a bit overwhelming deciding what you really need and what you would like!
I think my first BOB will be tailored to the most likely event, ie storm or a large scale blackout.

Um, i know its not the most popular part of the bob, but instead of toilet paper, those packs of moist toilet wipes are far more compact, and far more sanitary... lol

I'd recommend both, for the size and weight its certainly worth it to myself and probably to most people. Also hand sanitiser.

It's so popular it's not funny! LoL I steal packets of my daughters wipes. So much more effective than paper and easier to keep. Good for wiping your moosh and hands aswell after meals etc. Plus you get to smell Baby fresh afterwards! Good for morale trust me! Just wondering if everyone would actualy post up a picture of their BOB's? Im not asking for a complete breakdown or pics of what is in them just pics of the bags themselves. I know a Few of us have already done so but can we get a good line of pics going in this thread at all?? If you got any kind of Bag, EDC, BOB or INCH bag....post it up! Lets all have a gander if you're all keen. A picture paints a thousand words and can actually tell you in a round about way the type of person you are. Cheers Preppers.

Hmmmmm I appreciate your desire to do the right thing for Mumma earth but I just burn waste like that anyway so it's really neither here nor there for me on that one, plus as you say, quite expensive and I have plenty of other things to spend money on instead of expensive bum wipes! LoL Do tell about these interesting items then.......? Heres the EDC. Goes absolutely everywhere with me without Fail. It's like my Wallet. Here is the INCH bag. Pack that I kept from the Army. The picture does this no justice what so ever. This is a Big well compressed heavy pack on a frame. Very very comfortable and no issues for someone to carry even with a bad back. The knees are another story. LoL Son has my BOB at present but will post up it up as soon as I get it back.

My bob is not ready for posting pics yet as it is only a rolling bag! A sturdy one but we are investing on good ones this year!

ok, ill sort them by need so i dont double up or just make it all a mess, lol water- each of us have a charcoal filtered bottle for improving ok but funny tasting water (like pool water etc) a life straw, and steripen (planned) food- my sweetie and i are more than able to fish and hunt for meat, so thats not a huge concern to me - 2-3 meals each for tough times 2 snares (even if we have food they are good for catching the dogs dinner!) fishing gear and each of our weapons rice freeze dried fruits and veg a box of museli bars and a bag of lollies (good fast energy and morale boosters for the kids) solid fuel stove (back up plan to a fire pit) shelter/warmth- tent and tarp. failing that a traditional koori shelter! (eventually will upgrade to a camper trailer!) magnesium flint starter (that i picked up on special today!) led glow sticks from camping store (for light obviously, lol) sleeping bags security-as said, each of our weapons (my bow and eventually rifle, my sweethearts guns) 2 hand held cb's and a variety of h2h weapons one (this year to be two) good guard dog problem is, as i have littlies,(its far easier, safer and faster to carry my 3 year old in a carrier) i can only carry so much. and our first plan is bugging in anyhow, if we bug out, it will be together by car, and we wont be planning on coming home, so will be taking our seed bank, and supply of rice, bottles of water, first aid kit, fire extinguisher etc, lol and the funny thing is, nobody knows what i do and dont have bar my darling XD getting around like one of the zombies makes us far less of a target should the shtf imho
