Are you saying God doesn't exist? I dunno about shine but I don't believe the Christian god exists or any of them. However I don't have a problem with any religion other than scientology or islam. If you're a Catholic or similar and believe in that god then good for you, you could be right and me wrong. I figure if god exists, he'd probably prefer I use the logical brain he made me with to compile evidence and decide what to believe based on available information. I have never been witness to any evidence of a god. Nor has a religious person ever given me a compelling argument to support the existance of a god(s). For the record I identify as a Norse Pagan because I like the stories, the ideology and the culture. But don't believe that Odin will send his battlemaidens to bring me to his great hall if I prove myself worthy of joining the Einherjars. Aus, buddy, I cannot resist mate, but I am going to have to make a comment on this. Mainly because I find what you have said to be uber funny.
First you say that if God exists, he'd probably prefer I use the logical brain he made me with. Then you identify as norse pagan, for no other reason than you "like the stories". Ok that's fine, but sadly that is a choice based upon zero logic, evidence or available information.
I intend to offer you no evidence for my belief in God, for one reason only, you have made up your mind and nothing said will ever change that, mainly because you do not intend to use any logic, evaluate any evidence or information given to you.
But anyhow, DUDE that was an awesomely funny comment LOL.

Okay you've missed the point about why I say I'm "Norse Pagan".
I've been repeatedly asked over the years what religion I am. I don't believe in a god. I don't think there is spiritual power pulling the strings. I don't even believe in the concept of a religion.
I say I'm Norse Pagan because if I'm gonna have imaginary friends, they may as well be awesome vikings. Also because it's not really a religion because the Norse gods don't really care too much about what happens in our world unless it affects them. It's more of a culture, an ideology that you do your best and try your hardest at everything you do, you look after your family and you try to be a good member of the community.
That all said. I'm not closed to discussion on the existance of a god or the value of a religion, however you're going to need to start the conversation with some facts.

Hey Austemplar, Nope mate, I did not miss the bit where you stated norse pagan. I was commenting on the wording, I found it extraordinarily humorous is all.
But your last sentence is a bit off putting, there are no such thing as a "fact" there is only evidence and how it is interpreted, so far as religion goes.
But anyhow, as this is not a religious site but a prepping site, I leave the discussion where it is.
Anyhow, just pointing out that I found your post to be funny.

Yep, pump shotty I heard. About 90 rounds fired by the cops.
They seemed to have a clear shot from the channel 7 news room because the cameras did, but I guess they had reason not to take it.

Unfortunately there were 2 innocent victims - a 37yr old female barrister, and the 34yr old male store manager. The reports are that he saw the terorist nodding off, and tried to disarm him, was shot and killed.
Our nation has changed forever.
Re the manager, he deserves a medal and a state funeral. Though he gave his life, he saved many more. A true hero!

That young man deserves every accolade the state can afford him.
Sadly, he and all the rest had no military training, or it could have turned out with 0 casualties. But dang he gave it a good shot!

Yeah that manager is a hero by all accounts. I gather he had a go earlier as well, got a beating for his trouble but that's what allowed people (5 I think) to escape earlier on.

I was watching the news a muslim woman saying she didn't like hearing the Sydney terrorist being associated with muslims. If it is just a one off insane person, wouldn't the incidence of murderous insane person born amongst the population in the world be spread evenly amongst all religions? Why is it just one religion is a magnet for all the 'one off' insane people? I don't ever recall hearing of someone ever saying "Jesus is great!' and blowing themselves up.

As has been truthfully said - Most Muslims aren't terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslim. And to our friend mentioned in the above post by jacko - what would you be saying if a man holding a Bible took some Muslims hostage and killed 2 of them before he is shot and killed? Would you accept the arguement that you can't associate this man with Christianity because he is a one of insane maniac? ?

OH but Christianity has already been associated with this attack (let the blame shift begin), US news services are already saying the Islamic creed is exactly the same as the Lords Prayer. Oh and they couldn't resist, they also said it was the same as the westbro Baptist church, which obviously represents all of Christianity, (no mention that no one has been shot, beheaded, acid attacked by the westbro's).

Seriously look at Northern Ireland. Catholic or Protestant? Branch Dividians, Jonestown to name a few. As a member of the services I served in the Middle East and had family in gaol in the Maize in Belfast. I have seen the worst of every religion in both areas and it is always someone twisting a text to suit their needs. In reality it is not the every day person involved but the disenfranchised, disposed and greedy who think they will gain something from the cause that join up. Look at Germany in the 1930's. Would the Nazi's have been so successful as a political institution had there not been hyperinflation and a highly disposed populace. No belief is bad until it is forced on others. Christians have done this previously at the point of a sword or buring at the stake, Jews have been persecuted and so have several Asian minorities, currently we have ISIS. The point remains 99% of the population have no stake in the action being done in their name. I am also a devotee of the Norse pantheon and know from history they did similar things, it is what we do and what we stand for regardless of which deities we worship is the point. Sorry end of rant returning you to your regular program

Sorry end of rant returning you to your regular program yes and all those incidents you mention have received condemnation from many and all sides of things. So that argument falls back to moral equivalence, non of those things are the subject of this topic. Currently the topic is isis and their supporters either morally, financially or physically.
No one rioted when the dividians got taken out, no embassy's were burnt to the ground after Jonestown. Try drawing a picture of mo and riots will be instant world wide, people will be murdered, buildings will be burnt down, and a fatwa will be put on your head.
Many books have been written and the crusades still get brought up every time a muslim even sneezes, that boat has sailed many centuries ago. Also, can you quote any scripture that was used to validate going on the crusades, because I cannot find one.
The Jewish people have been hated even before Christianity or islam came on the scene. It is still wrong, no matter who does it, so again, not relevant to this topic.
I am a descendant of Olaf the Black, a Norse king, and guess what, it makes absolutely no difference. violence directed against anyone for no reason is not acceptable, regardless of who does it, regardless of your motivation, regardless of your edicts, regardless of your religious texts. _______ Now sadly, there are those within both sunni and Shiite islam that use certain texts to warrant their violence against anyone who does not subscribe to their sect of islam. This is what we are discussing here, Not the 1.something billion who are just trying to get through life. Sadly there is somewhere between 10-35% of muslims (which makes somewhere in the ball park of 150 MILLION personages) who do subscribe to the ideology of isis, alquada, Taliban, hezbolla, hamas, al shabab, and so on, and on and on. these are the ones we need to focus on, but how to you pick the nice ones from the isis type?, that is the question.

We have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion.
Keeping source to myself.

Saw a few bits on the various news with the theory that he was aiming for the law firm that represented him- apparently just down Martin Place- but someone called the cops on him because he was wandering around mumbling to himself(Probably trying to talk himself into it) When a cop car turned up, he dived into the nearest cafe to hide, but was seen, and it went downhill from there. Once the folks from the various Departments of Making You Sad put their spin on it, we will get an Official Version......
Was watching Sunrise when the newsreader was handed the list of casualties- and realised she knew one of the victims. Even for a news pro, to be hit with that on camera would be tough.
