OK I know this is not a really important topic but a discussion in the Ladies Lounge had someone suggesting using duct tape for leg hair removal. I promised to ask you fellas about shaving your beards in shtf and get your opinion on this topic. Would it be best for you to keep it trimmed? Would lice become an issue? What about the use of soap and water which would be precious commodities? Please enlighten me!

Beards are proven to increase manliness, testicular fortitude and survivability.

Personally i would Shave from time to time but not as regularly as i do now.
on the topic of shaving an affordable way to stock up is by using the classic Safety Razor, i currently use one and can honestly say i have gone from $15 for the gillete cartridges ( i think you get like 4) down to $20 - $30 for 100 blades for the safety razor. They shave nicer, store simple (small boxes, each blade is wrapped in wax paper) and are all around great.
as for soap i would use whatever is available, but to be honest its easy enough to store (you can still buy and use vintage soap online) so its easy to stock up.
just my thoughts!

Cut throat all the way! Clean, close shave and a good quality blade holds it's edge like a samurai sword!

Try not to conflate "personal hygiene" and "grooming". One is optional, one isn't.
Leg hair is grooming. Dingleberries on the other hand would be hygiene.

Eww! The psychological benefit of personal grooming can do wonders for the soul though and may be an occasional thing to indulge in during a SHTF. Leg hair does not bother me but for other women it does. So during SHTF we will have hairy legged women and bushy faced men running around! Haha

I think it would be a massive psychological benefit to make sure we do things like this post SHTF.
For moral boosting if nothing else.

I think the hairless leg thing for women should be thrown in the garbage! Women were meant to have hair on their legs so you girls should just learn to accept it as if its nothing out of the norm like the hairs on your scalp! If you make it normal for yourself then it wont be an issue at all. For your Boost of Morale you could do things like give your hair a good wash and braid it and put on some makeup for a day or an evening or something simple but effective.

Yeah Nate, I very rarely shave my legs and hardly ever wax! As I've gotten older it's like I don't need to impress anyone and hubby couldn't care less. Hardly ever wear makeup either, same reason as leg hair removal. Why do women have to mask their image like that anyway! It comes from feelings of imperfection.

Stay hairy, stay safe. Besides, if you have a wax hair removal kit you might want to save it in case some poor sod accidently wipes their butt with something in the stinging nettle family.

In a situation like that I would think something to lessen the pain would be better than getting them to hold still (or pinning them to the ground) while you delicately smear on hot wax (*shudders*) - duct tape would be quicker and less messy than waxing.......and for the record I'm the one who tested the duct tape on my legs (and underarms too now!)

(rofl)New prepper motto "Stay hairy, stay safe", would make a great T-shirt easily identifiable by other preppers as no one else would understand. Hahahahaha . How did the duct tape go under your arms Kenna? Does it work and hurt more or less than wax?

The hair is pulled out by the roots so it'll be about 6 weeks or so before there will be any regrowth plus the hair on my legs is blonde so it could be a little hard to see in a photo. I did my legs a while ago (not sure exactly when) and there is no regrowth yet. Wayne, you could be a gentleman and test it for your wife (just a tiny bit of duct tape on your lower leg should prove how effective duct tape is) but you may want to down some "bottle shop anaesthetic" first.
