Well done mate !!
Governments produce scarcity by shutting off pipelines, shutting down farming operations, taxing productivity and deliberately causing food shortages and inflation. Money printing steals savings from everyone, creating scarcity of the purchasing value of dollars previously earned.

I see walking curry. I just arrived here for a week long stay, so goat curry might be on the menu if I get my chores done.

Saw some dingo pups whilst disposing of the gut bags etc from the sheep yesterday. That explains why dingo dog has been unsettled the last few days.
U got somewhere cool to hang the goat carcasses Frost for a few days to let them 'set' before butchering ? Most people don't bother, but it does make the meat much more tender as the enzyme's start to break it down.
Calling NASA and SpaceX, please keep an eye out for a John Deere piston suspected to now be in a low earth orbit after a spontaneous engine disassembly.

I could hang a carcass under the roof between the two containers, it stays cooler there, but I’d need to wrap it in cloth to keep any insects out.
It’s looking like I won’t have time to hunt, too many other jobs need doing. Currently digging a footing trench to continue the concrete block retaining wall. By hand with a pick and shovel. I’m getting too old for this stuff. The spoil is making its way via wheelbarrow to level a pad for another water tank.

Walking curry.....
If you like that.. I could never develop a taste for curry.. However a hundred or more variations of Shepherds Pie would all be good.. They freeze well for a quick meal..

No tractor or implements. I don’t plan on farming on a commercial level, just large veggie patch in the good soil along the river, irrigated by the river and fenced off with a load of temp fence panels and bird netting I already store here. The neighbours have all the heavy farming machinery. Perhaps they will do some work for me in return for protecting their sheep and cattle from marauders. I’ve got all the good gear for that.

At least you have thought about the long term consequences of WW3 and the disruption to food supplies.
Well done, you are ahead of most.

What a view! It looks so peaceful.
I was thinking about what you said about it getting tougher to do the heavier jobs. We might (if/when we finally get a block that suits us!) end up buying a second hand skid steer. It's not a cheap purchase by any means and we'd have to save up for it, but for the 'smaller' jobs like clearing a medium sized garden bed plot, getting rid of undergrowth once a year or so, tidying up fire breaks, that kind of thing... Work smarter, not harder, right? Something small enough to be useful around a large residential block but big enough to lift a pallet of heavy stuff, or a large roll of hay or similar.
It's not something that I'll definitely do but it's something to keep in mind. There's an equipment hire place in town where we could hire something like that but to be honest I'd prefer to be able to do work like that at the drop of a hat. We shall see. For now it's just a bubbling concept as we don't even have a block yet.

We thought about a skid steer when looking around after the shed fire, but a David Brown tractor came up for sale, with a few implements for $5K. Bought it and glad we did. Turns out it is the model 60 with an extra low low range gearbox, (12 speeds), giving 0.25 mph speed in low low, perfect for rotary hoeing. Also, its no electrics at all, apart from the alternator and starter motor. It gravity starts well enough to not need a battery even.
Have a blade, crane, several slashers, rotary hoe, pipe plough, post hole digger, rippers etc, and standard 3 pt linkage and PTO to take a water pump and so on.
It also has a carry all on the front, along with a 3,000 lb electric winch on the front, with a 5 meter control cable, perfect for preloading trees when clearing and keeping out of their way !
Have 500 liters + diesel ferreted away, all treated with stabilizer.
I also have a 1/3 yard scoop that fits to the 3pt linkage, so moving dirt etc around is a lot less back breaking !
Procrastination means never having to say you are sorry.

Home from 5 days at the retreat. I lined the interior walls of the sunroom. Being north facing it gets nice and warm, great for the cooler months but will get hot in summer, so hopefully with the windows and bi-fold doors open it will get a breeze through and stay comfortable on hot days: The Mrs got busy sanding and painting the lounge room and one bedroom in the guest cabin. One room is basically set up for my son, his partner and 2 little girls 1 queen bed and 1 set of bunks). The other room will be set up for a couple with just a queen size bed. They are about 4m x 4m rooms, so a decent size.
