Well ... I have to eat my earlier words.
The half dug-in shelter built by one contestant in season 8 seems to have held up ok without being subject to a lot of moisture incursion. I was sure it would end up getting wet inside with seepage water. Perhaps saved from a soggy interior by a fast transition directly to snowfall without much rain? Pity series 8 wont still be going when the thaw comes.

SBS announced the new show on Monday as part of their 2022 programming slate. The show will follow the format of the American original, in which 10 people spread out over challenging terrain, taking only 10 items with them from an approved list. Contestants are left to film themselves and are never told how many others are still in the game, until one person remains. Casting for the first season opens on Monday, with a TV advertisement asking: “Do you have what it takes to protect yourself, feed yourself and stay alive in total isolation? Can you survive in the Australian wilderness alone?”

I think it will end up a flop unless they can get around certain legislation that prevents eating certain animals and using certain techniques to capture them. We are more pu$$yfied than we’d care to admit.

So most likely desert, There is more food in the dessert than anywhere else in Australia. I have seen the Danish and US version, will have to look up the Swiss and other they mention

Just get all the contestants to wear a puppy onesie and identify as a dingo. Then they can hunt whatever they want and the Gen Z audience will love it.

We are more pu$$yfied than we’d care to admit. Yup. One of the first seasons of this kind of show was a team one. A couple of the contestants refused to kill or eat a wild pig that was caught. They ended up leaving part of it to rot in a water container. 'Reality' TV, yeah, right.

All I need now is a telly. You aren't missing out. We pretty much stopped watching it about 18 months ago. That was when the media went from being critical and investigative of our governments, to being their media outlet. Just like China's CGTN. Out TV is now hooked up to our PC and plays videos. Haven't watched a full TV news service for a long time now and don't intend to go back.

The only programs on my tv are Vietnamese or gun porn. Every channel, every day. Mrs can't work out what's happened to all the other channels. I told her they went to a different digital format our tv can't read
If she ever discovers it's Chrome linked to my tablet I'm in deep do-do.

You’d go on a paleo diet as mixed grills would be the main part of what you eat. I used to catch goats by hand for sharts and giggles. The desert is awesome, you can see too the horizon in many places and can pick out game from kilometres away.

I didnt know that, thought it was pretty much inhospitable in most parts. Ive never ventured that far into the interior, longreach is about it, not quite dessert there but pretty dry country.

It is hard going but can be done. Check out some of malcolm douglas documentaries. He was a bit of a dude and spent a lot of time in the bush.

All I need now is a telly. You aren't missing out. I know...that's why I got rid of it.
I find the commercial stations unwatchable...even if there is something on of value, the incessant ads drive me bonkers! Sometimes there is something of value on ABC or SBS, I just use their app on my Ipad and watch at my leisure.
If I need up to date Australian news I can get News Radio on DAB or AM...But I'm finding their stuff (ABC) less reliable lately so I have online sources...

Well ... I got a message from the producers of Alone Australia ... need to finish my application by friday ... got some videos to make ... then fingers crossed I tick some demographic boxes for them!! Best of luck with your application. Did they offer any hint as to where it will be? My guess in on aboriginal land as I suspect that is the only way the can get a special permit to hunt native animals. I doubt they will get a special permit on crown land.

Good job, may the gods be kind.. June/July this year is too soon have too many other things on the go, demographics would be a problem for me. Would be interesting to see the equipment list. Danish Alone person gets the same issued equipment.
