No hint at all on location.
I hope its arid inland or Mediterranean coastal. I have a chance in those environments because I know them really well.
It may not even be in OZ ... they asked about passports! They might pack contestants off to Africa or PNG or something. In which case ... I'm out.

I was scanning maps a few years back for possible locations, came up with south Island NZ, got fishing, and go into a very cold winter, in line with other Alone locations used, The producers made some noise about indigenous Australians, they would only thrive in desert.... PNG would be too easy to survive I don't think the show works in tropical environment,

I agree it is more likely to be cold climate as it is more conducive to TV.
And tropic environments have the inherent risk of mosquito borne infections. Imagine all the contestants coming down with dengue in the first week. Would make for a very short season.

Southern Tasmania would be a fantastic spot considering its beauty and remoteness but I doubt that contestants will be granted permission to hunt or trap native animals. As I understand it, the only way permission could be granted to allow hunting/trapping of native animals would be if it were conducted on aboriginal land, and the permission was granted by the custodians of the land, and there's bugger all aboriginal land in Tasmania.

I saw a quote from producers saying it'll be a cold location. Mind you ... -4 nights are common in central Australia from june to August. That's cold. I agree ... South West Tas must be odds-on favorite for a location. Which ... if I'm lucky enough to get in the final cut ... sucks for me. I have bugger all direct experience there ... it would be a case of adapting and inferring from what I know. Hopefully its a coastal location at least ... I do have experience harvesting food from southern ocean coastlines.

If you haven't already put in you application, consider a short video using some less popular tools such as scotch auger. Anything that makes you stand out.

Thredbo, here we come lol Private Land on the edge of Lake Jindabyne maybe? They won't be allowed to hunt native animals there. And trapping is indiscriminate so it won't be allowed there either.

Tas..was location as many expected. Interested to see contestants and what equipment they were allowed to choose and chose. tvtonight.com.au/2022/11/2023-upfronts-sbs.htmlAlone TX: 2023 on SBS and SBS on Demand Number of Episodes: 11 x 1hr Alone is a smash hit around the world. Now it is coming to SBS, for a new Australian series. In this unique survival series, participants compete against others but more profoundly, they compete against themselves. There is no crew, no producers, just survival. Alone Australia will see 10 Australians with survival skills dropped off, alone, into separate parts of the Tasmanian wilderness, where they’ll be challenged by the merciless forces of nature, hunger, and the perhaps the toughest challenge of all: loneliness. The goal is to survive alone for as long as possible with a limited amount of survival equipment but can leave or ‘tap out’ at any time they wish. The survivalist who lasts the longest wins $250,000. Alone Australia is an ITV Studios Australia production for SBS. www.themercury.com.au/news/tasmania/australian-version-of-smash-hit-tv-show-alone-films-first-series-on-west-coast-of-tasmania/news-story/a07ec0019ac6fc479334c135a5a7884b?amp

Alone Aus gear list. No bow, no gill net, I suppose it will be hand line fishing and trapping rabbits, living on blueberries would not be an option. Some interesting options like bank line, adze, scotch eyed auger weareexplorers.co/alone-australia-approved-gear-items/What gear would you take for Tas!!

Sleeping bag, ferro, saw, large hatchet, fishing gear, brass wire, rations, steel cooking pot, salt, multi-tool.
Salt becomes a critical diet supplement in a high rainfall, non coastal environment where natual sodium is almost entirely leached away. Our bodies work very poorly when lacking this mineral. The rations are psychologically important and critical for getting through the 'settling in' phase while one builds shelter and gets set up for acquiing food from the environment.
I think doing Alone Oz in Tasmiania is pointless anyway. May as well watch any of the other Alone series filmed in the same cold wet environment. They should have done a desert edition here in Oz. I'm keen to see how long the last person standing sticks it out for.

Holy cow ... the contestant descriptions are so Cliche and predictable its depressing. Doubt I'll watch much of this series. And ... I suspect the winner wont have to hold out too long relative to some of the other series. Heaps of them look like early quitters.
