I think the rich are just as observant as us preppers, only they've got a lot more cash to splash. If you read beyond the mainstream media channels its not hard to see that the world is very quickly tearing itself apart. The middle east wars are now all over Europe and starting to spread further away, America is a right shit show with the next civil war slowly brewing stoked and funded by the likes of Soros. If I had the cash to spend I too would be looking g for a nice quiet defendable remote area to build a base on.

While I do agree that we are headed for something big, with the rich it may be more a case of "what do you buy for the guy that already has everything?" These people have so much money that they would struggle to find things to spend it on, and once one of them bought a doomsday retreat the others have followed as sheep rather than forward thinkers.
Also, why Russia? What is the attraction there for the middle class Christians who are choosing to relocate there?

Here's a wild theory: Russia and NZ are both distant from the equator. Perhaps with climate change rolling on, being closer to the poles will be more livable? Count Canada out as it could get locust swarmed by gunned up refugees from the states? If I had to leave Oz I'd look pretty closely at Russia. Somewhere around Lake Baikal (below) seems decent, albeit damn cold in winter.

Are they counting on Russia warming up to an acceptable temperature range with global warming? Otherwise it's colder than a witches tit most of the year, with short growing seasons that require major food storage just to get through to the next growing season!

Looks like a great place to wake up each morning, but looking at the terrain, there isn't too much option for putting in crops, everything would have to be done microscale in whatever patches of flat ground you can find or build up. Plenty of firewood though

Lol Russia has 10% of the world's arable land. Plenty of room for broadacre cropping!
Looking into the main reasons for those that are emigrating from the US to Russia it comes down to religion and beliefs. Russia is mostly Orthodox Christian, and religion is still very much a part of state there ulike the US. Also, gay marriage is illegal which influenced a few who moved. One immigrant who moved with his whole family pointed out that while the US gets involved in conflicts in countries where Christians are persecuted, they are always on the side of those doing the persecuting. While when Russia gets involved they are on the side of the Christian minorities. Which is an interesting point.

Putin proposes free land gifts to foreign citizens with Russian background; www.rt.com/politics/402209-putin-proposes-free-land-handover/Russian Homestead Act en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Homestead_Actrussian-faith.com/news/russia-offers-sanctuary-15000-christian-white-south-african-farmers-n1698russian-faith.com/people/tourists-no-longer-how-american-family-ten-became-legal-residents-russia-n1675russian-faith.com/family-values/us-orthodox-priest-wife-and-8-children-move-russia-rostov-great-interview-n1336Here are a few links I found - feralemma, I agree 100% - many people move there because of what they see as a strong Govt & strong Church. Your point on the difference with the US & Russian conflicts, and the minorities, is very interesting, and I believe, very true. I saw an interview with Trump, and he was asked if he ever asked for God's forgiveness, and he said he couldn't remember ever having done so. Putin is a believer in the Orthodox Church - he may be considered a tyrant by many, but his love for the Church is unquestionable. He does take a stand for Christian minorities, Syria, Iraq even the Kurds, to name a few. The Church & Russia are very closely inter twined ( maybe too much for my liking ), but, Putin has opened his arms & Nation to oppressed Christian minorities from across the globe - he is definitely NOT your typical PC leader - maybe that's why I admire much of what he does ( not all, but a lot ). My family background is Russian, but my parents are Protestant - me, I lean towards the Orthodox Faith. Not sure I would move to Siberia, and the Mrs can't punch out any kidlings, so I guess I'll stay in Oz. Just my 2c worth!

Siberia probably isn't my idea of paradise either, but seeing the pics of the lush green grass in the plots of land being given away could just about change my mind 😂
Putin is smart. He's not leaving vast areas of the country unpopulated and he's creating a population that is grateful to be there and who will defend their homes.

Similar thing that Philippine government used to do, they use to pay people to live in the northern islands that china had been trying to claim for decades and even used the army to deliver their food and water weekly.

We're back in Texas now. Not rich, but we don' need no steenkin' bunkers, we got the Texas Rangers!
Seriously, the folks down here are prepping, arming up, and getting ready with increased urgency. We all feel "it" coming, like a runaway train. My guess is Texas will be the first state to secede, a right guaranteed us in our state constitution.

A friend has a nice cabin up in the highlands here and winters there are a tad unpleasant yet he grows veggies all year round even when the ground is covered in a couple of feet of snow he has glass houses everywhere he can put them and uses the heat to grow crops and dry wet fire wood one of his subterranean glass houses even has a firebox in it so he can boost up the heat a little if need be its where he grows his paw paws and bananas while this fixes food supply it wont stop you from freezing to death but hey every victory is a victory right?

There was talk a few years ago that this would happen - be interesting if it does come about! Wonder who will follow - the ol' Southern States?? That would have global implications the world has never seen. What would be the reasoning behind this - I mean, they voted for Trump, they got him, are there second thoughts, or is there something else going on we don't know about?? Be interested to hear your view on this. Me, I lived in Tx for about 3-4yrs, so I have a soft spot for the Lone Star State - Lone Star Beer, and long legged women - YeeHa!! Oh, and the tv show "American Hoggers"

Oh, and the tv show "American Hoggers" Trump is doing a good job, but the deep-state opposition has gone from "verbal" to "violence and threats of more violence". This is playing out politically just like the run-up to hostilities back in 1859-1861. The main-stream media wouldn't know the truth if it bit them on the butt, and tech giants Google, Facebook, and Twitter are silencing conservative voices with the tactics of Stalin. Not all Southern states will secede. Virginia is now "damyankee light", as are Georgia and Florida. By the way, Shiner Bock is much better then Lone Star beer!

I'm tempted to agree with Pion... Would the politicians allow constitutions to hold power over commercial sponsors?
