This may not end well for gun owners. An excuse for government to 'intervene' in the interests of 'public safety' and take away tools.

Got to love the UK article. Talks about Australian gun shops while showing pictures form American gun shops. This is where the idiots here see those and think we have that stuff here.
The increased ammo buying here, if true its the media after all, has less to do with the corona virus and more to do with the panic buying in the US creating shortages here/increased prices along with our dollar going to hell meaning increased prices still.

Yeah this is going to be frustrating. Personally I do a fair bit of load development to come up with an accurate load based on a particular powder & projectile weight. No doubt shortages of those specific components will throw all that effort out the window and necessitate redeveloping loads with whatever is left.

This was the reason I switched to Aussie made powders and projectiles the last time this happen a while back. Fortunately I still had quite a supply of primers and enough brass to last a life time or more.

When I found a projectile that suited my twist rate (nosler 175 otm), I bought 1000 of them. That should do me for quite a while.

It is true.... I was at my local gun shop yesterday, bulk 22lr is gone, plus popular stuff like 308 and 223, along with pepper spray (only legal in WA).
Now some gun shops who sell property letter on the side (fastest route to here long arm license here) are selling several rifles per day and a mate told me people were lining up to buy cheap rifles and shotguns last Saturday....
And as I was panicking about the lack of primers on the shelves (I shoot 300 a week, 600 if preping for a comp).... Bam! They have shut down my local club today and I assume other clubs have shut down too.... So now I have way too much ammo...

My concern with shutting down pistol clubs, is will the government waiver the participation rule, or will they cancel licences because you haven't met the required number of shoots?

They will likely backflip and say outdoor gun clubs were not on the list of shut down....

Long time no see, just checking back in. Frostbite, my concern isn't the participation requirements, it's that they'll confiscate all registered firearms.

SSAA NSW emailed (I am still on their mailing list for some reason) and said they are still waiting for NSWPOL reply.
It's not even funny, sheeple are targeting our old guns too, a few people who knew that I owned legally unlicensed (pre 1900, obsolete calibre) rifles asked me where they could get them... Those were the same people who told me I spent too much money on my hobbies... Yeah sure, they ain't buying my kar1871 and Swiss straight pull althought I suspect I could sell them for 3x the price, or 4x because I have dies, projectiles and brass for them too. So they sleep in my friend's safe in NSW (had to get license in WA if I wanted to bring them over). Still got my 12ga SXS front stuffers with me because they are exempted in WA and I have been offered crazy prices for them, maybe I should sell and buy them back at market price in a year's time but I suspect people may blow them up using smokeless....

My club in wa has closed until the end of may, they have said all pistol shoot requirements are covered for this period. We'll wait and see.

my old contacts in tas have reported to me that its business as usual with firearm branch they are still issuing PTA's but have advised people it could take a bit longer due to the high demand for permits although most clubs have closed down they police have waived the participation requirements for this year as well
in QLD if you can't meet the requirements you just have to send a letter into them to explain why and my club has closed as it was an indoors one

If you can get a property letter there's no need to even be part of a club π

If you can get a property letter there's no need to even be part of a club π you do for category H unless your a primary producer and pretty much only QLD that allows that

I swear the emu war is still being fought here π€£π€£
