yea I have my doubts on the effects of emps on vehicles, there are always new studies and "secrete" studies on the topic, power grids and generators will go down, I'm just not 100% sure on cars and trucks

yeah.. i've read up quite a fair bit about EMPs. Supposedly cars are huge faraday cages, so its actually EMP safe.
The scenario in One Second After is only half possible, the cars _would_ survive an EMP, even those with computers on board.
But this 6x6 is bad ass man.
Anyway OL, after you buy one, you can add your own grills... lol
I'm not too worried about a ZombiePoc, I really don't think its possible.

Its big, heavy, i would say thirsy and not to mention... visible from the third ring of Saturn.
I would only imagine due to the wheel base and weight it would be fairly limited as to where it will go (with in reason)
Did i mention it was big?

Maybe a trike concept would be better then. Might even be able to fit a Solar Panel on top of it and it would serve as a form of shelter of sorts too.

The trouble with those trikes is that you loose your off-road capabilities. The battery is sized well and would probably be able to give you 100kms or so if you peddled [which you can't] as electric bikes use most of their electricity on take off, not in cruising. That panel is old tech though, you can get the same size panel that outputs twice the power and the actual charge time would be close to 3-4 days in summer, 9-12 days in winter. I'd rather a bike.

If you're going for a RV / Caravan approach to bug out in then a set-up like this is definitely going to get you further. But in saying that, you're going to be the target of everyone. Most likely in a SHTF scenario I won't know where a safe place to go is, so what is the point of pointless driving? I will be heading to a BOL, or simply walking aimlessly.

I own a large 6x6 truck, I love it and have been living in it for 14-odd years, but it's about the last thing I'd uses as a BOV, too big to go a lot of places, way to visible, and very difficult to recover if bogged.
I already live at a good BOL but if I had to leave I'd take my trusty Landcruiser.

Just had a look, yep, its a mog. awesome vehicle, great ground weight distribution, and they do in fact have a very good turning circle. Also, if it has the military gear box, you have a reverse switch inside, which means you can go from 60 forward to 60 in reverse with the flick of a switch, the tire smoking is awesome.
Some good points for them.
1/ front end is tough, good for pushing over small sapling trees. 2/ good ground clearance, you can ford some creeks, if the banks are not too steep. 3/ fuel use is actually quite good. 4/ they do not bog easily, as long as on wet tracks, you do not try to ride in other tracks, (make your own tracks). 5/ if they do bog, you can get winches front and back to pull your self out.
Bad points. 1/ being so tall, they are easily visible unless you use non reflective paint. 2/ being so tall, they can and do fall over. if this happens, getting them back up is a crane job or walk away.
In my humble opinion, the best bug out vehicle is a twin cab 4x4, and a 7x5 box trailer with high sides and mesh cage. To escape rioting (read zombie horde), using security screens (Bunnings has them cheap) on your windscreen and side windows, is the way to go. Also, if you can find them, hardened inserts for your tires (puncture guards I believe they are called) and inner tubes is the best for a bug out vehicle. very light window tinting, in case the glass is smashed, will stop any shards coming inside. (use a yellow/gold tint if possible, as this increases visibility day and night).
And practise camping, at least 1 week long, to see any equipment you need to update, or are short on to live off grid.

I'm building a wagon that can go on the road and the railway tracks, I also have a mountain bike so the wagon can ether be hitched to the bike or pulled on foot. I'm also looking at building some kind of pedal or hand device for the railway tracks.
