They'll only do it once. They are way more vulnerable than us. They import most of their food and energy, we can feed ourself and have natural gas. They have famine and economic collapse in a few months, we dont.

If there's a shooting war it will get to us (fuel) before it gets to China. Like I said, China will sink one ship and they're done.

"Can we feed ourselves if no fuel is imported?"
Well, can you ?
When the collapse happens do you really think you will be able to get petrol or diesel ?
Without mechanical assistance, life's gonna get really hard, really quickly. Hand gardening for a group is going to be an effort and add in possible outside interference from roaming hungry groups, it will be difficult to be self sufficient.
A big part of prepping is fuel supply, wood for heating and making gas for powering a tractor and generator, as well as alcohol for cooking and making medicines with.
The size of a battery is measured in vaults (V). Most small batteries are about 1.5 vaults.

We aren't talking about collapse (if we were, I wouldn't of bothered to be a part of it), we are talking about China's capabilities and what will happen to them (and us) if they go kinetic with the US or allies.

China has the advantage that their navy vessels are much larger than ours and any surrounding countries. Their "coast guard" ships alone are larger than the ships in their neighbours and they regularly use them to bully other countries and force themselves into their EEZ fishing zones and just pillage the fish stocks with their super trawlers under the protection of the armed coast guard ships. As soon as there's a shipping blockade stopping our fuel imports, the military will immediately take the fuel stockpiles here ready to gear up. Australia only has one fuel refinery left in the country due to the oil company's greed of relying so heavily on imported processed fuels and the endless government red and green tape hasn't helped either.

Does China really need to sink a ship to empty our shelves?
First hint of trouble in our waters and the sheeple herd will stampede and your local supermarket shelves will be bare before I can type ‘I told you so’.

Does China really need to sink a ship to empty our shelves? First hint of trouble in our waters and the sheeple herd will stampede and your local supermarket shelves will be bare before I can type ‘I told you so’. Ditto for fuel, oils (lubricants-all imported from Singapore), furtaliser, fresh food, rubber products (tires), metal products (all production diverted to military use-saw it happen with BHP during the Gulf War), then comes coal shortages (no diesel to transport the coal) and electric power rationing.
Fast forward 6 months.....Harvesting is extremely hard on the machinery, most of it imported as we don't make it now, so spares will be an issue. No spares, no harvest, no food, simple equation. We've lost most of the machine shops that could make spares for this and other equipment, like electric generators in power stations. Yup, 2 years tops and Australia would be a third world country.
U ready for that ?
And that's not counting an economic issue, society problems due to lack of basics, or another war.
Me thinks its time for some more tire gardens.
Very small batteries can be measured in the unit “notional milli vault” (abbreviated to “not mi vault”).

China knows we can hurt them even with our paltry supply of cruise missiles...Blue water subs could blockade them. If (when) the US steps in, it will be over for them.
I think China has peaked. They know they're running out of options. All they have left is threats & bluster.
By the way...we have been at war with them for years...the amount of people they kill in the US with Fentanyl via Mexico drug gangs, letting international flights out of Wuhan while shutting down domestic, blatant IP theft from the west...no conventional weapons used but they have been killing none the less.
I'm gonna enjoy this show.

I bought an extra 100 Gillette disposable razors last week, for when the Chinese stampede happens and everything runs out. I will trade them to the local lovelies for things I can’t get the mrs to do ( like my ironing).

Fuel, petrol/diesel/LPG, will be liquid gold. Stock up now, its relatively cheap and in a sealed drum, metal not plastic, will keep for years with stabilizer added.
Ditto for oil, brake fluid, coolant etc. Also, a jump start pack is a good idea, the one I have is no longer made, (Jaycar 5 in 1 power station/air compressor), but there are equivalents. Check for what sort of battery is used in your farming appliances, electric fences etc, mostly made in China. Get spares and keep them charged.
Nows the time to do a survey of your preps and equipment, finding out what is made in China and buying spares, like filters and bearings. All will become unobtainable. And they do funny things, especially with bearings. They look standard and have a standard looking number, but I often find that the bearing itself is metric, but the case is an imperial dimension, or visa versa, so a standard type wont fit without shimming the case. Drive belts are another accessory that will be unobtainable, firewood saw, tractor fan belt etc, all come from either China or India, and be aware that the Chinese measurements or part numbers on the belt may bear no relation to its actual size. Always measure the old one. Oh yea, chainsaw chain, stamped Sthil made in USA, actually made in China under license, exported to the USA, so it can be labelled as USA, so get spares, or a bulk roll and a chain breaker tool.
Were screwed........
Our model of reality is founded on some basic assumptions based upon limitations of our biological sensory apparatus. The mechanical sensory apparatus we build tend to be modeled on our biological sensory apparatus and the Basic Assumptions Which May Be Wrong which we make based on those apparatus. In other words, reality might not be what we think it is.

Gee, they are only nuclear powered, not nuclear armed! With what China has, aren't they being a bit hypocritical?

They can have them but we cant.

I can just about see the future nuclear sub base at Pt Kembla from my house. Which might put a target on my place, or another zero on the end of it’s value.

A target. Like Pine Gap is. Glad we moved from the Illawarra 20 years ago. Was too crowded then, must be wall to wall now.
Any fool can make a rule.
