In the 20,000kms of driving I've done in the last few months crop plantings across NSW & QLD have been at extensive levels compared with last year. As for buying a cow these days ... $$$

so how many legs do locusts have? 2 or 6?

Ditto for water, communications, petrol, electricity and so on. the average Australian thinks the Government has them covered, when in reality, the Government is only feathering their own nests. When they wake up one morning, with no electricity, or water, they turn on the cell phone to get the news and find the networks are all down, then they will go to the net and find its off line as well. They will then try and find a battery radio, and find the battery's have leaked all through it and its useless, even if they had some spare battery's, which they probably haven't. Finally getting to the car radio, they find no stations on air, and at that stage they will panic and drive to the local store to buy up toilet paper !! To use in a toilet that cant be flushed. Unfortunately, others have been there before them, and/or the store electronic funds transfer system is down as well, and they have no cash as they only ever use the card. Even if they had a short wave radio, and there are a few of them being sold through Magnamail etc, they probably don't realize it even has short wave, don't know how to tune it anyway, and are now 9 meals from starvation. Those who are hams and have backup power, are on the radio, seeking intel, finding out from around the country and/or world what's happening. They will be the go to people in this brave new world that has appeared overnight, those who have knowledge to repair/build things and the forethought to get prepared for blackouts/phone outages and so on, will be the new rich kids. Meanwhile, true preppers are checking their supplies, weapon, ammo, fuel and the thousands of other details that will become life saving items in the future. They will be the ones with blackout curtains fitted to prevent their solar powered lighting from attracting unsavory thugs. They will be the ones who cook on a wood stove, and using a hay box filter and small car heater fan to suck up the delicious ouder of cooking meat and prevent the starving hordes from knowing you were prepared. This is not a drill folks, its the new reality and its coming soon.
Beam me aboard Scotty. Aye, will a 2 X 4 do Captain ?

Who needs blackout curtain or filter fans when the nearest neighbour is over 1km away and has a paddock full of fresh beef and lamb.

That's an actress, but I do have a friend who looks very much like her. Not Vietnamese, but Croation. We were gym junkies in our younger days, our mother's keen to hook us up together, but we were both with other people at the time. Last time I saw her was many years ago, at my place for lunch. She was wearing long boots and a short skirt, and wrapped her long legs around me as my mrs took a photo. I thought I was in the $hyte, but Mrs thought it was hilarious. Apparently blondie now lives just down the road from my coastal retreat. What a coincidence.

There are 2 ways of looking at this... From the personal stand point, an extra butcher steer, more chickens and such will do a lot to get you buy for a long time...
For the mass of population, growing more wheat, cows etc is good and doable.... But you must have in country the ability to process, regardless of how minimal that is, store, transport, distribute.. Much of my thinking on this is from what little I know of Canada, US, UK rationing during WW2, and the logistics of feeding the country..
Now this has made me curious of how were things in Australia, New Zealand during that time..?? Different thread...
Logistics, logistics, logistics.... Most any army understands this... But few, if any bankers, politicians, and the general public of today understand..

I think most people don't really think long and hard about this - it's not just "she'll be right", it's also complacency, buying into "the Govt will look after us". Also, it's the loss of the old ways - growing your own veggies, raising chooks in the back yard, swapping food etc with neighbours - for the most part the loss of community is the biggest loss of all - not so much in rural areas, more big city.
The current situation with Covid, China, and other worldwide events, including food security, have given me more reason to keep preparing, and to put more measures in place for future food security.

Its too easy to rely on the .gov and the supermarkets. In reality they do not have your best interests in mind. Sheeple have been brainwashed into growing useless decorative plantlife instead of the alternaive. My olds are like this, they would rather waste time looking after a backyard full of potted decorative plants than sow a veggie patch. Its all social programming, food comes from the stupidmarket, watch the football, pay your taxes and work a useless job until you die.

that is pretty full on. it is also more of a reason to steer clear of this shortsighted population growth mantra. We don’t need it, look at all the issues with the extra 5 million that arrived here over the past decade and a half. cities becoming unliveable, housing is unaffordable, services stretched beyond their means, the list goes on. In the past 50 years the US had grown 120million in population and many of them in the Pacific SW where it is naturally dry. All that extra pressure is making this a real problem. unsustainable growth leads to unsustainable lives. All the extra taxes collected and economy developed will mean sqaut as this issue continues.

Some interesting reads in this post with different ideas but I wonder just how many of you would be caught short if it did hit the fan.
When I was a lot younger just after the second world war everybody in the area I lived had a vegetable garden, possibly a few fruit trees and maybe some chooks. If I were to go back to that area today it would be hard to find a proper vegetable garden let alone a fruit tree or chooks. Some people also kept rabbits for the table.
I still grow a lot of our own produce including enough fruits to have a good store of preserves and jams and some meat but what we would miss if it did hit the fan would be grains and nuts as far as the food side goes but the loss of petroleum products would mean a whole new ball game particularly as far as the pumping of water was concerned.

How many preppers even, are prepared for drought ? Bushfires ? Floods? let alone have/can grow enough food for themselves and their group/family ? Add to your group Aunt Fanny who is 89 and cant walk, plus those who u know cant do much, and we are in trouble. Try to visualize how much food, even one person, needs for say 12 months, then multiply that by the number u are expecting. A single individual will eat their way through about 2 tons of food and water in a year, not counting bathroom visits. A resupply plan is essential, except if you can stockpile that amount of food for everyone, and even then, water will be needed. I bet the strongest vegetarian amongst you will be begging for some meat after a few months without sufficient protein. I know it would be tough for us, even though we have the electric, comms, water, fuel situations under control with solar, ham radio, tanks, and gasifier (wood), all worked out and operational. We have lots of land, solar powered water pumps from the dams, animals for food and so on, and even I am not sure how long we could survive for. It will surely be a difficult and hard lifestyle growing enough for us all. We wont need the gym that's for sure ! I believe the Bible says the tribulation will only last 1260 days, or 3 1/2 years, so that's the aim for the survival time.
Think for yourself, whilst its still legal !

Yep world food reserves are at record low, with 80% Of world population living in urban areas and out of touch with growing food. Up to 35% of households have some form of government support, aging population, high reliance on meds - it is big disaster waiting to happen.
As a prepper I have 18 months food supply, herb garden, and veg garden, plenty of seed stockpiled. After 3 months in a total meltdown of society there won't be many left standing. Things are now so interconnected that one country falls the rest of the dominoes fall in sync.
