For those who have to urban bug-in I would reccomend reading Selco's account of that situation from his Balkans war experience. Our communities are far less cohesive than they were in the past and criminal elements will be amongst the first to exploit an absence of police. Even if it were relatively short duration chaos overall, if it involved widespread grid down for more than a few days I'd suggest you'd want to be ready to fight for your life because there are some evil & sick puppies out there who will jump at the chance to do what they like in an unsurveilled world overlaid with chaos & panic. Welcome to Lagos is also an interesting watch with respect to understanding how the world works in a police/law deficient setting. Communities do seem to find ways to self police. The region SA Hunter and I live in had complete loss of power and data grid for 3.5 days after a storm several years ago ... things seemed to go OK. Even when strong rumours were circulating that we might be cut off for weeks. (This was with a small city of about 12 000. Not sure it would work the same in any of our state capitals or big cities though ...) |

Caltrops are prohibited weapons in NSW. Nothing in NSW is legal including carrying a pocket knife. Come the end of the world you wont be carrying a pocket knife.. Just take some nails from inner walls of your house. Or you could prep accordingly. Desperate times desperate measures. The law is the law regardless. Whilst i may agree with the sentiment, are you willing to risk the possible situation of saying “ yes bubba” with you mouth full before actual SHTF? |
