To be fair to the cops it might not be corruption but could be their raw laziness or idiocy, just ask the orificers that monitor this forum!

This is why firearms and ammunition seized for this reason should be stored with a local firearm dealer.

The NSW FAR keep changing their “fact sheets”. No information is provided sent to individual licence holders when these arbitrary changes are made. There are new “rules” for storing a rifle in your shed if it's not attached to your primary residence. The commissioners “powers” are real wild west.

The 'under the main roof' provision has been in for some time, but licence holders weren't individually informed. More stringent rules for storing at your rural property as well, including monitored alarms. I guess NSW police got tired of half starved escapees stealing .22 rabbit rifles from unattended cabins and shooting up their elite tactical 'soldiers.

Yes but how did the ammunition just disappear from the storage unit. Someone is helping themselves!!! I know many people who have had cash stolen from gun safes by so called men in blue when checking or confiscating weapons. There is a real probability that firearm restrictions become more onerous due to police negligent at best.

I'm waiting to see if the ammo I had seized back in August gets returned in full. I too got handed a receipt without itemised ammunition. The young fella who was writing up the receipt started to itemise but the older officer 'in charge' instructed him not to.
I'm letting a lawyer deal with the recovery process.

Local Cop turned up to buy some honey. Saw that I had the gun safe open and was cleaning a new rifle, so asked me if he could do an inspection. No worry's, took all of 5 mins, paperwork all in order and he said we would probably not hear from them again. That was over 15 years ago.
Have since fitted rifle carriers to the quad and tractor, you never know......
With a body like this, who needs hair ?

Cache people, store yr ammo in a separate safe, away from the main one. Perfectly legal, keep only a couple bricks of ammo, old stuff that maybe got wet or wont fire properly, or is Chinese s..t. in the real gun safe with yr weapons.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

"A woman he knew claimed to have helped find a buyer and wanted to be paid. This disagreement escalated with threats of blackmail and, Sam said, vexatious claims made against him to police.
This sparked the seizure of his guns and ammunition, which is police policy for registered firearms owners."
Ah yes. Guilty until proved innocent. Welcome to Victoria.

Have split the ownership of the weapons into my wife's and my sisters names. I still have a couple in my name.
My kids laugh 'cause they think I'm crazy, I laugh because they don't know its hereditary.

Have split the ownership of the weapons into my wife's and my sisters names. I still have a couple in my name. Hmm. This is not a bad idea. I hadn't thought to do this. My Mrs is trying to talk me into taking her to the club for some exposure to my firearms - I've been sorta putting it off because I don't think ultimately she's likely to have much interest outside of the first few times with the wow factor and all - however, there might be a practical side to splitting the weapons into smaller ownership caches so to speak. I wonder how this works in the real world? So a customer goes manky on me and throws a complaint to the local cops who then want to confiscate, even temporarily, my firearms. Would they just clean out the safe? Take my wife's weapons as well? Or could I have 'my' weapons put into the guardianship of my wife until legalities (re: customer and complaint) sorted themselves out?

Good luck getting the police to allow you to keep your wife's firearms in any property you have access to. I've seen this recently where a father had his licence application rejected and his son's application was approved with the condition his safe storage address was somewhere 'not frequented by his father'.

If they try to confiscate her weapons, 'cause of me, then Id let the Lawyers deal with that.
The knowledge to construct a weapon from $20 worth of Bunnings pipe cant be confiscated though.
You cant scare me, I have four daughters.

Further to the storage of ammo separate to the weapons, from the regs.
"Ammunition must be stored in a locked container, separate from the firearms - sections 40 (1)(d) & 41(1)(c) of the Act. The ammunition storage may be separate altogether, or may be a separate locked compartment or receptacle within the firearms safe storage receptacle or safe."
Just because im awake doesn't mean im ready to do things.

You cant scare me, I have four daughters. Lots of people say that. Then, like my mate, they spend $40k trying to get their guns back. All charges against him withdrawn or no conviction recorded, but FAR still decided he was unfit to hold a licence. All for bull$hit trumped up paperwork discrepancies, no real law broken. So for anyone claiming they'll get a lawyer, I hope you have huge amounts of money to throw away.

Whats the backup plan ? And like everything, you must have a backup plan, for water, power, food etc. The backup plan is cached ammo, and the knowledge I alluded to in the last post.
A day without a beer is like....just kidding, I have no idea.

Let’s not go there in terms of DIY please. I appreciate the context, but let’s stop here.
