But a large mylar bag of pre-mixed milk and coffee? That could be very handy. Hrmmm the cogs are turning, might have to give it a go and see if it's worth the effort. == == While you are experimenting with coffee powder, keep in mind flavored coffee creamer powders are an option.. I haven't looked, but would love to find an amaretto type flavor powder.. Occasionally during cold weather I will make a batch of coffee powder and add a cup of hot cocoa mix to it.. Hopefully... Something worthy of posting in the ..meals in a jar.. or similar recipe area may result from all this ??

We hot water can chicken, vegies etc into large jars for instant meals.
The dehydrators are running every day now, processing excess vegies from the gardens.
I'm pretty sure my last words will be, "well shit, that didn't work !"

My Cardiologist has me limiting my coffee intake to two cups ( 1 morning and 1 afternoon). A strong cup of Chai laced heavily with spiced and just a hint of allulose sweetner and some vanilla would make a great powdered drink mix that could be served hot or cold/ with or without milk. Sadly, all the good commercial ones are chock-a-block with sugar in multiple guises. I have about 10 kg of coffee beans in various blends on my short-term storage shelf, (along with Costco Kirkland Colombian coffee in a can) but tea just oxidises too quickly for LTS and loses its flavour. Maybe freeze dried is the go for spiced chai?

we keep our teas and coffee's in jars that have a type of vacuum seal lid.
Also works well for storage of nuts and lollies !!

Maybe freeze dried is the go for spiced chai? I actually hadn't even considered chai, and it's such an awesome comforting drink to have and I should have tumeric chai more often (good for inflammation, my doc tells me). So I've had some thoughts, and I'm pretty sure I could brew a large batch of chai and then freeze dry it so that it's basically a milk powder blend that's already brewed. My FD trays fit a 3L bottle of milk perfectly, and that way I could actually control the amount of sugar in it. I tend to not put sugar in chai and instead go with a bit of the traditional honey. As that's a forever food there's no need to do extra work to store honey so I could either add it in the brew or just add it later. I'm 99% sure it would work, because at Christmas time last year I FD'd a couple of litres of the Paul's Eggnog. It worked really well, and all I have to do is add the right amount of water to reconstitute it. I think I could do the same with chai tea though. There's a LOT of sugar in Paul's Eggnog so even a small amount in a chai blend would probably be just fine. I'll definitely consider that for one of my next batches!

Image update, latest batches! Blackberries and raspberries. I bought a big bag of each (organic, berries are one of the things that I'm fussy about getting organic if I can). A few weeks back I got a HUGE bag of holy basil at our local farmer's market for about $4! What a bargain! I use it for a Thai basil and chilli noodle dish and it's glorious. I now have enough holy basil freeze dried to make it fairly regularly for the next 5 or so years! And finally, a batch of eggs. I think I have about 4 dozen eggs dried now. With the rate that my middle child goes through eggs, I don't think I'll EVER have enough stored back but it's just so helpful to have them. What I love about these pictures is the COLOURS. We all know that one of the easiest ways to ensure that your diet is adequate nutritionally is to ensure that you get plenty of colour variety.
