Good and bad idea - tough call that only If they can put aside the PC crap and really give it to them for 12 months, not pamper them, then, it may work out ok.
Wayne, you did your bit, and medical circumstances stop you doing more. Be proud of what you WERE able to do, stand proud you were once in the ADF. Don't worry about what you could have done, be proud of what you did get to do! You have my thanks for your service!

Seriously!?? All the kiwi's I have ever worked with have been crazy mad Piss heads who just want to get rotten and pick up Aussie women.
And they were always quite good at their jobs.

I have no issue with conscription for either my 2 sons, or my daughter (or even myself or hubby if we were needed to). I doubt that conscription would happen unless we were directly under attack anyway, and if that was the case, how can you stand back and expect others to fight for your home and not also help? That said, my eldest, who turned 18 in Feb, has just started his ADF recruitment process (hoping to get into Army working with drone surveillance), youngest (15) is looking into joining the ADF as an intelligence officer (yet to decide on Army or Air Force for that) and my dad was in the army as well. So the idea of my kids being in the defence force isn't a foreign concept for me

My thoughts were along the lines of a direct attack and wondering wether conscription would be for females as well. My father was in the reserves a long time ago and my maternal grandfather was a Rat of Tobruk and grandmother was in the WAF but thats it in my family. My eldest daughters have both got health issues and my youngest is only 4. That pretty much leaves my son!
