I never understood why NATO allowed so many eastern block countries and turkey into the fold. It has weakened NATO in my opinion.
Don’t know why the US feels it needs to get involved. let em sort it out once and for all.

Russia always has been and probably always will be a threat to Europe. Why not create a buffer between you and them and have a big say in the military system while you're at it? Win win in my books, especially for Germany & France.

After looking at the scale of this event there is no way that US and Israeli Intelligence didn't know this was going to kick off! More to the point now is this is only the first episode way more is coming, the opening act was a ball buster but I reckon we've seen nothing yet!

My opinion is the Israeli govt had intel about the attack, but let is happen to give them just cause to seize all of Gaza once and for all. I won’t be surprised if in 12 months Gaza will be the newest Israeli beachside settlement and a couple of more million Palestinians will be in refugee camps somewhere.

And also noticed strange weights, now dog food is 7 kg, not 8kg and chook feed is 24 kg, not 25kg, but still the same price.

Now that was interesting... Came home from the scan, checked myself with my Geiger counter. I switched it on and it went berserk, even 10 foot away it was still screaming. They gave me a piece of paper to show to anyone if needed, that I was radio active for 6 hours or so. And I was ! It started to slow down after 6 hours, but I still couldn't stand next to the counter until about 8 hours later. This morning all is normal, just the occasional click from background radiation. Its a pretty strong dose for these scans of some sort of radioactive salt.

Turkey made sense being in NATO back in the 1960s and is a part of what ended the Cuban missile crisis. But it has no relevance now. It is a negative on everything it is a part of. Their current trick is to constantly threaten to send all the Syrian migrants straight to Greece whenever it doesn't get its way.

they are issuing permits to allow purchases of upto 100 bullets. Hope they shoot more conservatively than the ukranians and russians.

May be this should be the start of a '2nd amendment' type of debate in Australia. It could happen to anyone, and a handful of farmers with .22 cal single shot bolt actions are not gonna be able to help defend Australia, and our weakened military would need all the help they could get in such a situation.
I agree there would be a lot of hurdles, just education will be big enough as we are not a gun culture and haven't grown up exposed to weapons on large scale, so most people have no idea how dangerous they are, but maybe we have to start now remedying that.
I'm not suggesting the 'free for all' that has become America, but relaxing the semi auto rules could be first. Then perhaps carrying a handgun, and over some years, gradually accustom people to the sight of weapons being carried in public. Ive no issue with regulation, but outright banning is an issue as well.
Modern society needs rules and guidelines, but personnel safety is there as well.
You want a good topic for discussion....try a referendum on carrying a weapon in public, either concealed or openly.

100 rounds doesn't even warm up the target when we have a shoot here with the neighbors.
1,000 rounds is the minimum to have on hand, ready for use, plus another 2,000 rounds in standby.

Interesting visit to Bunnings this morning.
Lots of flower seedlings and seed packets, very few veggies seedlings, lettuce punnets etc, and noticeable empty areas on the veggie seed racks.
Still reasonable amounts of potting mixes, but little furtalisers, lots of lawn stuffs though.
A bit like the children's game, "coming ready or not" becomes "WW3 coming ready or not".
A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep.

I see things said the inclusion of many countries was to keep them from aligning with, in a word, Russia, China and anyone else seen as undesirable.. Weaken NATO, the UN, the EU... Yes.. That has pretty much been the result of some of these countries essentially dragging the rest of the organizstion down to there low levels.. But that is the price of bulking up the membership numbers, or so it seems...
Seems like this is why 170 of 190 or so total countries in the UN only pay about 3% of the total expenses... However, bulking up the membership seems the priority..
