Things have progressed this week. BOE, Japan, Canada have capitulated and lowered interest rates due to failing economy despite inflation still hot. US Fed has now mentioned likely rate cuts in September.. All major world economic crashes and depression start after an interest rate rise cycle then on first drop the wheels come off. Some US indexes sown by 3% last night, Aus index now down 2.16% at time of writing been trading or less than 1.5h. All the stock money has gone into like 5 big companies the other on the 500 top company index are mostly down (named by economist as narrowing of market - few big player left.) In fact most of the money has gone into fake AI industry, worse than the DOT COM bubble. History does indeed rhyme... |

Um... Unfortunately.. This area is the lower end of an area from Quesnel to Hope that is quite a beautiful drive, but is prone to and has suffered a number of natural events over the last 8-10 years.. While I was there it was a series of forest fires that threatened communities, burned highways and power lines that took a long time to fix.. One whole village was lost in these fires.. Some of the nearby areas have been fire damaged this year.. Next was a land slide that disrupted the salmon migration to our area.. Also a couple small land slides that have caused highway issues for a couple years or more.. Area can be best described as pretty, but possibly dangerous..

QLD government will be passing its "community safety bill" soon.
This bill will police all of your social media and online posts, and if it goes against the grain, you'll get a knock at the door and have your firearms license revoked, even who's on your friends list on Facebook will come into account.
If you have any firearm charges against you that would typically disqualify you from obtaining a license, then you won't be able to work in certain indistries such as agriculture.

I do add monthly to my preps so not all bad news, but I am frustrated with so many things and laws are changing so rapidly and freedoms removed - if it happened tonight I would be happy to deal with it. Update of on financial markets, things exploding, watch for more money printing then slight uptick and then down to zero and banking holiday: ASX down 3.8% a big drop for one day. Japanese Nikkei down + 13% and well over 30% down from record highs a few days back. Definition of a 10% drop is a correction and +20% drop a bear market. That's the problem with the shooting community, is they are so fractured and clicky. They won't stand as a united voice. It's always elite pistol shooters vs. slow drone rifle shooters, comp shooters vs hunters, etc Even the club officials tend to be old fuddy duds that are set in their way and refuse to flex for new ideas or changes in modern shooting standards or events. That and labor is entrenched in Qld no matter how poorly they perform, hence why they have held power for 28 or the last 35yrs or so, pulling a vast majority of their votes from the highly unionised building/mining sectors. |

The security upgrade seems to be targeting both sides of the political spectrum.
With their wording, they are talking about the pro-palestian groups, but also those are are standing up against the government cronies that started during the covid lockdowns.

Steady rain since about midnight Sunday.. To continue through noon Tuesday.. A few rumbles of thunder, but not much.. Mostly slow and steady..
