I took my son to the dentist 2yrs as 2 of his teeth were coming through crooked and wanted an opinion on it, just for the checkup with my dental benefit I still paid $130 out of pocket

As I mentioned I've only got the extras cover so I sort of still get slugged the Levi at tax time, there's no way I could afford the hospital cover side of it, even though I have a mining job, personal debt has made me a poor man but rich on paper lol that and also trying to run a business on the side in a futile attempt to raise a little extra cash

You guys can afford contents insurance? I work in the mines and can barely afford to pay my extras only health cover which is about to be cancelled as we aren't using it and they pay sweet F-all when I do claim my glasses through them. I know it should be done even if I'm renting, as my trade tools alone is maybe 50K alone when you add it all up

Diesel as moisturiser? You're clearly an innovator. You should see if you can sell that to the people in white lab coats at the 'Ponds Institute'. (Or any of those alleged beauty laboratories.) ... I can see the add on TV now ... "try new Diesel for Men."

Just a stupid beat up by Greenpeace when their anti whaling ships burn crude oil lol The fact on diesel particulate matter is a mute point, maybe 20yrs ago, but today you have exhaust systems in place to catch that stuff and burn it off before it leaves the tail pipe.

We've had a lot of bad governments over here without even rudimentary economic knowledge. They continue to increase spending, and increase taxes, fees, duties, etc to pay for it. It's a disgrace. Same with labor in qld, In their latest budget release they have stated they are going to start with 4 new taxes to be implemented to pay for the billions dollar stadiums they aregoing to build around the state instead of shoring up water security around the state when places like Townsville will be completely dry of water by March next year and instead of building a new dam for their water, they would rather blow $250M on a new footy stadium for them. The multiple new solar farms they are building right now in Central Q for the stupid labor renewable energy target are also earmarked for sale as soon as they are complete. The are boasting about a billion dollar increase on the budget which is solely because the coal miners exceeded their target output last year by $1B absolutely nothing to do with the government over spending but they are claiming it as theirs in typical government clap trap bullshit speak

The mining sector in Qld is slowly improving from 3yrs ago, wages are on the steady increase, even for contractors, mines are ramping up, new mines are getting developed there are 1 mega mine due to start construction next year near me(not adani) as well as 1 mothballed mine reopening next year another mothballed mine getting an overhaul of it's wash plant ready to reopen at an undisclosed time, another new underground mine about to start off in the next year or 2 and another mine spending a fist full of cash on a new extension. This on top of the lack of skilled tradies to work in the workshops to maintain all this new gear coming online means more cash for my pocket, but it also means rent increases in my small town due to greedy landlords trying to make a quick buck, my last rent renewal the owner wanted to stiff me a $60/week increase but I managed to settle him for only 30, but I know he will increase it again at the end of the year. Looking at the real-estate websites, it seems that all the houses in town have started to go up as well, even the 40yr old original weatherboard houses that are pretty much a rats nest are priced just as much as the new houses in town for rent. Back during the minin boom it was common to find houses with the rent at $3000/week !

I'm with FB. If you can source all the wood for cheap or free like through gumtree and the local classifieds etc then I would do a traditional style walls and use the pallets for the floor and deck and bust up other ones to use the wood for shelving, support etc. But your project and we are all watching with great interest with your project. Just make sure you get the hardwood pallets, as they will be treated as well and last longer then those nasty pine pallets that break if you walk on them lol

And now since the summit, there are parts of our government talking about starting our own nuclear weapons program.
I hope that the NK summits come to a neutral grounds to move forward so that things can settle down in our part of the world There will always be those parts of government that want these things to fail, call it deep state, globalists, democrats but as long as Trump keeps his cool and his nose clean and keeps getting the real job done instead of sitting back like the last lot of presidents did, he could potentially set a lot of good in the world. But in saying that, watch out for a lot more false flag attacks orchestrated by the deep state/democrats/globalists to bring him down and continue their plans to destroy/dominate the people as seen with Soros funding of fringe hate groups such as Antifa and BLM

So since you've started to prep, what little habits have you taken on that before you wouldn't have done?
Mine is with toothpaste. I now make sure I get every last little bit of toothpaste out of the tube now. As before you would only get 80% of it out. I get cranky at the missus as she starts the new tube at that 80% mark and I continue to get at least another weeks worth of brushing out of that last little bit in the tube.

Ok cool, so you subscribe to the small panel trickle charge theory. those small panels can put power into a dead dead battery without "shocking" the battery like a standard battery charger would.
I believe that FB had a bushfire scare last year on the property if I remember?

Looking nice there. Are you going to put some whirly birds or other type of ventilation on the containers? What's with the LCD screen on the ICB pods?

Woods Walking Primitive Skills Aficionado
You had an outdoor living room before they were trendy!
You represent the "hippies" of the group. To you, survival is about making your own clothes, building your own home, foraging for your food, and in all other possible ways being “at one” with our mother earth. You have learned a tremendous amount about living off the land.
You draw much of your inspiration from indigenous peoples, and like them, you are adept at being able to make shelter, weapons, tools, utensils and all other implements from the materials that nature gives you.
You pride yourself on being able to make fire with flint and steel, a bow drill, hand drill, and a variety of other ways.
A large fixed blade knife is your best friend and with it, you can shelter, hunt, make snares, and lots more.
Even though you may be skilled at carving a life out of the wilderness, you shouldn't let this distract you from other important areas of prepping. In order to avoid becoming lopsided, make sure you aren't discounting firearms and security, stored food, communications or emergency medical.
These other areas of prepping will serve you well in brief and acute disasters.

Good setup. In a SHTF situation, you would only need to add some more water storage and a filter, another bag or pack to hold more food and firearms and ammo as needed
