Moving into the larger packs for a multi day bag, would you guys prefer an internal alloy frame similar to a macpac style of keep with the 10mm foam is use currently on my packs?
Peter has 2 of my larger bags if he could may e post a photo of them loaded up as a reference for size comparison?

Tomatoes, to get away from looking military at first would be as easy as getting the pack in a neutral colour like black. As far as general designs go, this is the latest demo pack I made up in a new camo I got in stock recently with a first aid pouch and another molle pouch I grabbed from my samples box for show. Basically I'm thinking of developing this pack up some more to a larger size(this is around 30L) maybe a second compartment like my Type 1 packs or possibly having 2 long side pockets like the 5.11 rush72 pack. I was also thinking a similar detached front pocket like the 72 but maybe having a gap at the bottom so you can hang a hatchet through the base to keep the weight if the pack central rather then when the hatchet would be attached to the side of the pack.

I'm curious how many of us have built up go bags for various uses?
As I'm trying to think up a design for a new backpack that can be multi functional in it's end use as far as a go bag. I'm looking for any input from you guys and gals as to what you want in a ideal bag.
Zips vs stuff sack top MOLLE vs pockets Approx. litres
Any input you guys can give to help design the ultimate BOB/GHB/INCH etc bag would help

If you want portable ones that fold up, try these. I've got one of the 160W and use it when on extended camping trips or when the cyclones tack out my power for a week+ I took it up to Weipa last year and where we were camping on the beach and the length of the cable it only really for a few hours in the arvo of direct sunlight but it kept the battery running the weaco on full charge www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/products/solar.htmlI would recommend getting the extension lead with them as well so you can set them up out further. But what are you looking at running from the panels? How much you want to power from them will determine how many you will need

Power blackouts for up to a week is my primary prep concern since I live in a cyclone/supercell alley zone and when the power goes out, it's down for at least a week. I've just got 1 more prep to go in regards to my infrastructure for this and that's a genny crossover switch in the mains box, but I'm holding off on that as I'm in a rental atm and don't know how much longer we will be staying in this house, I guess that depends if they try and hike the rent come the next renewal in a couple of months.

They might notice quite a few factories closing down with no where near the demand for chinese goods anymore. But if you believe in what a lot of people write about business in China in the government have a part ownership in most major companies, and if not directly then through members of the government

Is the 7k for a brand new container? They can be picked up cheap 2nd hand if you want, the army auctions are a good start then just adding the removal fee for it

We still can remmy, or we can keep them to general weekly discussion topics?

It's talking about a "modified shipping container". So I'm guessing that this is one you have setup and decked out before "the event". So like Greys setup, he has done a great job at decking his out as a home. I guess with a lot of forethought, you could set it up in a defendable location ie: build a berm around for fighting positions/concealment, same with tree cover in the bush and also some camo paint to help blend it in. So using the "modified shipping container", you can set yourself up nicely as compared to post event and occupying a random shipping container you found in a farmers field.

Ok, now that I have 2 shiny new decks of conflicted finally, here is the first challenge for you guys, this is a random pick from the Southern Prepper 1 deck, the latest release.
What are the pros and cons of using modified shipping containers as a survival shelter?
This should be a good one, considering how many times it gets brought up on forums/facebook.

Bump. Far too much info in this thread to let it slip away.
TC, if your still around, a few of the links in your first post no longer seem to work if you have an updated list you can edit into it to remove the dead links?

I've got the wild plants book by Tom Low, covers a lot of all around Australia. I will look at some of the others to get. I've just finished reading the ebook, 100 deadly skills, it's all about surveillance/counter surveillance in foreign countries and stuff, James Bond type stuff, but is written by a Navy Seal on real world tactics. There is another version I've found out tonight written about survival, so I'll have to have a read of that too.

It doesn't help that major roads/hwy up this way aren't flood proofed and are built with low lying bridges. The Sarina range road was washed away in Debbie and still won't be repaired until at least the end of this year at the earliest.
I'm getting more and more prepared because its now an annual min thing for my town to get cut off and in blackout each year. Though I am still lacking on a lit of things like extra food/water (ATM I'm only allowed to keep 1 weeks worth of food/water but am slowly adding meat to the deep freezer to increase the levels as the missus gets real cranky when I buy canned foods) but as soon as I can get the missus to finally empty out the crap still sitting in boxes in the garage mostly of kitchen stuff then I can have more room in the garage for my husk ESS and to out in extra cupboards to hide food from her in lol

How much does a pest control cost these days? I used to live in the really old house which had the bathroom drain pipes open to the crawl space underneath it and had cockroach galore. I complained to the real estate and they had the pest guy come and squirt this gel type stuff in the cupboards etc and little drops here and there which the cockies would eat and go back to their nest or whatever and die and spread the poison to the others.
Have you tried some of that outdoor insect surface spray that comes in a 2L spray pack and is supposed to last a few months?
As far as a "natural" cockroach deterrant, Wiki says
catnip repels ants, flea beetles, aphids, the Japanese beetle, squash bugs, weevils,[2] the Colorado potato beetle, the cabbage looper,[3] and cockroaches.[4] May attract cats.

Not to mention Australia has shot itself in the foot as far as local manufacturing goes by way of corporate greed for maximum profit, over zealous unions pushing for higher pay rates and government red tape and taxes partly from them signing up to the Lima Declaration years ago(to basically force manufacturing to be moved to a 3rd world country for "wealth redistribution" just another way the UN trying to destroy our lives) So pretty much we are only left with exporting raw materials..mining, gas and livestock.
