I don't care how prepared you are... Shit happens and the smart thing is to have a Cache well away from your BOL! Gives you time and space to regroup!

Protective masks... What sort of thing should I look for? I'm thinking lightweight for EDC or in the car, and something more substantial that will be left at home.
What sort of things should they protect from?

What sort of things should they protect from? Anything lightweight for EDC would only be good for escaping localized fires, dust etc. These would basically be like you see worn in hospitals. Anything more that this, you'd need to go with a full on mask, which wouldn't be ideal for EDC. More suited for an INCH bag.

Another gear question, sorry for taking over this thread! Looking at getting one of these for hubby's EDC/GHB: www.wildearth.com.au/buy/petzl-e-lite-emergency-head-lamp/E02P because they are lightweight, have the red LED function and seem pretty hard to kill. I'm a bit worried they won't be particularly comfortable though... does anyone have any thoughts (or better suggestions)?

So EDC?
LED headlamps are fairly cheap these days. Id suggest going somewhere like BCF and actually having a look.
Fishing shops do a bit with these also. Trying one on would be beneficial.

Ok I have a question, I am wanting to buy a machete, When I was younger I had a really good one, I carried it every time I went out bush and it came in invaluable when the undergrowth became too thick, also I suppose I liked the wank factor of having what is essentially a very big knife.
Now my priorities have change somewhat, but I don't have that one anymore and everything I have looked at is pretty flimsy and made of a low quality steel that wouldn't hold a blade for even one trip out bush. I am open to suggestions and/or advice.

Ive had my Gerber one a few years now and its been pretty reliable.

Auspost do a deliver to a usa address and forward to you. My kids use it and it sounds reasonably priced.

Would a good old fashioned hexi stove work? I have a bunch at my work. PM me if you're interested.
