Hi everyone, how was your day? Did you get any prepping done? Today I am dehydrating 8x 500g blocks of Kraft cheese. its amazing to dehydrate and so easy. just start on a small box first. slice as close as you can to the same thickness then lay it out on your trays same distance apart. Then set the dehydrator to 70 degrees for 12 hours. i use 12 hours as a base time as you just never know. Dehydrate till it snaps. then you can blitz it in your coffee bean grinder. It will look like Parmesan cheese without the pukie smell. It tastes great..sprinkle it on a tomato sandwich. Use it in a cheese sauce..or don't blitz it and just have it as a snack.
hope you have a lovely evening..kind regards to all..π..cookie

Ok. Ok last one for tonight. You can also spread vegemite on the cheese Or promite..depending on your tastes. Miss 9 loves promite on cheese. Then dehydrate the cheese. Tastes great....and you get the extra vitamins From the spread with the calcium.....kinda like sneaky veg. Lol Miss 9 doesn't like vegemite cheese slices... And her fav cheese Is mercy valley ploughmans cheese. Ok. Now. Nite nite, π΄ kind regards..π.. Cookie

So cheese smelt amazing...I dehydrated some onions in another dehydrator to off set the smell of cheese In my house. It worked. It smelt like cheese and onion dip. Lol very yummy.

Oh hey..Peter Thanks for that idea about dehydrating sauce. I did it with jar sauce and it turned out great. I also cut it into large pieces and put baking paper In between...works out a lot easier than blitzing It all the time....a whole lot messier. So a huge thank you to peter πππππ» Kind regards to everyone..ππ»..cookie

Heartburn is caused by not enough stomach acid. The food is not being digested quick enough and refluxes back up which weakens the valve between the stomach and esophagus. You can take hydrochloric acid supplements to aide in digestion. As we age the levels of stomach acid decline and the incidence of reflux increases and taking anti acids can make the issue worse. Low stomach acid can cause a bacterial overgrowth in the stomach as well as allowing the bacteria that causes ulcers, Helicobacter pylori, to thrive!

Thanks for that remmy Appreciate the advice. It also doesn't help that I have Fld hereditary. Some days I'm fantastic. But then on those other days....π I wouldn't Wish how my tummy feels on anyone. Yup I have a stomach ulcer...not a nice thing. I am on medication for it but unfortunately Some of my other meds don't make it easy either. As a last resort I turn to quick eze and medications Have a definite used by date on them....where as quick eze In a SHTF situation and no meds...and no chalk to chew on....lol think I will prep My quick eze...you just never know. But thanks for that.πππ»..kind regards..cookie

Fatty liver disease. There is the one causesd by alcohol and fatty foods and then there Is the one you inherit through your genes. I have the inherited one. My mum has it as well. And we Don't drink. Same as bad kidneys. Lol I may not live a long Time but I sure he'll will make sure my family has enough to survive on. My way of prepping works for me. I'm definitely not a professional at it. And I don't know everything. I am me....and I keep my family going...no matter what..as does So many other people mums dads..aunties..uncles..sisters..brothers..the list goes on. Anyways it is only one of the things that is a part of it. It certainly doesn't define me.. .although it does try to rule me accassionaly Have a lovely day..kind regards to all π..cookie

Hey everyone,π. So last night I made a beef stew. Just your basic beef stew. It was really lovely. Today with the left overs I am going to dehydrate it. I made a huge pot so I would have loads of left overs. Should Be enough in there for at least 10 meals. I used knoss brand potato powder that my daughter had purchased through PFD...it's what upset my tummy. The stew I made a thousand times so I knew It wasn't that...the only thing that was different was the potato. I was too lazy to Boil some spuds..... Should have known better. But anyways at least I know now. Lol I am going to boil some beef mince later for prepping. You boil it then rinse it off with hot water. Then boil a bit longer..rinse it off again with boiling water To remove all the fat...then I add diced onion...raw ..and a gravy mix...already made...then I thoroughly mix it all together and then I put it on my Plastic tray liners that I made out of the really thin chopping up mats you can get in red dot or most supermarkets. Then I set my dehydrator to 70 degrees for a minimum of 12 hours. Some times it takes less. Then I open up 2 cans of lentils...drain and rinse well..and set them out of my mesh mats to dehydrate. 50 degrees for About 8 hours.
When their all dry I mix the lentil and beef gravy mix together.....that's the base now to my potatoe top pie. Then when your ready to use it. Empty into a air tight container...pour boiling water over the meat mix..about 2cm about The meat..then put the lid on and let the water do its job. π. Lol if you have a tea cozy now would be a good time to use it. Put the container of meat inside the cozy........it does work...have done it many times. While that's rehydrating...start doing the instant mash. Boil water..add to mash mix in a bowl..stir through thoroughly until it is the consistency of mash potato. Add some ghee..marg..or butter..salt and pepper to taste. Then when the meat is ready. Add the potato to the top of the meat....and bake..if you have the facility to bake it with. As always in a SHTF situation you might not. If not just serve and eat. I especially like the dehydrated cheese sprinkled on top.
It doesn't take long to make...rehydrate...it's a quick easy meal. The reason for the lentils is to add some extra protein. You can also add dehydrated veggies to the dry meat mix...or maybe some mushrooms.
Hope this inspires you to have a go. Prep with all your heart. Kind regards..π..cokkie

I just got home from shopping. Various shops various reason ending in the supermarket. Each person I greeted happily..hi how are you..and all I got in return was a grunt. How rude is that..what ever happened to...hi how are you...are you well..please..thank you And God forbid we hold our breaths on receiving a....have a nice day. Like seriously. Have we evolved that much that everyone can forget basic manners.
It's wrong...any wonder we live in an angry world.
I can remember being on checkout and every week I had to serve this one woman. She was rude. Nasty. Didn't matter how nice you were to her she was a b&$@h. So 10 minutes left in my last shift and she comes through my check out. I tried my hardest for the last time...and she was still the same. I exploded...went right off my tit at her. Yelled at her and how rude she was and this I'm so very Privileged to serve a @@@@ like her and that every week at the same time I was going to come Down town and stalk her......she was so shocked. She couldn't believe someone would speak to Her like that...both the service supervisors dragged me away from my checkout...I yelled back at them. So what are you gonna do...sack me..by this time I had less than 3 minutes of my final shift.. Needless say invented big time. I would never have exploded like that..hope she learns something from this. A simple smile..nod of the head..please or thank you..is it really that hard to do.
Sorry for unloading. Hope you all have a better day than me. Kind regards to all..π..cookie

Yeah the modern focus on self leads to a lack of interest in others and lack of manners naturally follows.
I think a lot of the time people are miserable or angry as they're never in the moment, always rushing to the next thing thinking what they're going to do tomorrow, not just being with the people around them.
From the limited time you've been on here, you always seem so busy cookie. I wonder do you ever just sit down and chill out with a tea or somthing? Good to find a balance in these things...

Hi everyone. When I decided that we should prep I got my self an exercise book. I named it......all for one....lol you know..lol the musketeers In it put all our prepping ideas. We watched every doomsday prepping Dvd we could find. I spoke to preppers....I did a lot of home work before we actually started. I wrote a list for the first aid room. And slowly we r defiantly filling it up. The only thing I can't Afford at the moment is a defribalator...we bit expensive. We also looked into herbal medicine. For when we can't get the pills we need. That was very interesting. So we now stock a lot Of different herbs I would never have thought of. Then came the brewing. Lol we r still brewing. It's working out great. Very strong....phew knock ya socks off, lol Have done canning...I'm not very good at that. Needless to say dehydrating is my thing...and I have A lot to do so the power better not go off yet. Same as vacuuming everything. I have canned goods. I just prefer dehydrated. I know..I know.. It's useless if you haven't got water. Where our little place is...there is a stream that has water in it 80% of the time. We have a damn..we have 10x1000 litre water pods and a huge tank that's full. So as far as water were sitting pretty at the moment. Plus dad put down a couple of bores on the property as well. My dad is a water diviner....a skill we have all been taught. Everything we need is out there...just not enough food. We also have a hydroponics vegetable setup...nope sorry guys....vegetables only. Lol So this winter I want to up grade the chook pen so it has an empty bay either side of it for rotation. I also want to work on the fencing...we r getting a couple of Dorpa sheep. Looking forwards to that.
President moon is in. In South Korea.

Hi Paranoia, π..lol Yes I do. It's only the prep for dehydrating that takes the most time. When it's in I have a lot of Time in between cycles. Trust me I have my very lazy days where all I want to do is read. And when I'm un well I don't do anything. I am ashamed to say that in the last 2 years of prepping what we had amassed added up to very little. Then with all this NK stuff. It's got me really worried. As soon as it warms up again....middle of Spring..my prepping kinda comes to a stand still. We have loads to do..and I have everyone working on it.. I'm not prepping right now, lol I'm sitting here with a cup of tea putting up a post. by the way how did you know Oh wait I know. Lol spy vision..(giggles cheekily). It's very relaxing doing posts. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it. and remember prep with all your hear today as there might not be a tomorrow. Kind regards..ππ..cookie
