Interesting!
I just don't get how reducing the size of the useable vision thru the forward mounted scope makes sense. Can use a low power scope with both eyes open too.
In my case, being right handed and left eye dominant I do sometimes shut my left eye on smaller/more distant targets just before squeezing the trigger to avoid parallax issues.

One eye open VS Two eyes open With eye relief / parallax issues pretty much zero (well that's the theory anyway)

Ya just have to try it Spinifex! it’s a pretty big difference regardless of how many eyes you have open. For sharts and giggles try looking through both scope positions with a dunny roll. The forward mount just seems to activate much better vision.

Not a bolt action! But one of the absolute handiest, nicest, coolest, meanest little guns on the planet............... a 16 inch barrel 30/30 Winchester 94 "Trapper" model equipped with a Williams 5D Aperture Sight! Not exactly "tacticool" yet is one awesome little package! Good article too:- leverguns.com/articles/taylor/trapper2.htm

I like my 303, but ammo is just too expensive at over $1 per round. Whatever rifle u get, it has to be easy to maintain as there will be no gunsmiths after tshtf. I like my Browning semi auto 22, with 10 shot mag. Light, easy to reload (the shells fit up the stock so there is no external protrusions to get caught up). Looking at the AR platform as you can get a nice bolt action mech to fit. Not sure how legal it would be in NSW though. Also have a 12 g Russian shotgun, with adapters to fire 22, 222, 223, 38, 45 and 50 cal etc. Not real accurate, but the advantage is that any ammo will work in it. I just prefer bolt actions to lever action gear. To each their own.
Life is the bit between birth and death.

But I'm going to get a Gunsmith to chop my 20 inch 94 down to a Trapper and then hit it up with the spray cans!

Thinking outside the box! No1 Mk3 converted to 30/30, 17 inch barrel, custom wood, flash hider and Red Dot! Whoever created this totally "Gets It" with building in the "Practical Rifle" domain, awesome! Pity I was just too late to buy it for like $490!

Now this is an interesting bolt gun a bolt action double barreled 12g that holds 10 rounds +++ Very interesting and innovative to say the least... But at $2100....... OUCH...OUCH....
My latest "project" is an older bolt action, Stevens Savage 12ga 3" with a broken stock.. These are a tried and true, older, meat on the table type gun, but suffer from a notoriously fragile stock.. They do not tolerate side pressure, and somehow this one got broken into 2 separate pieces..
Actually, I'm lucky it is in 2 pieces as that allows me to get all the surfaces available wet with glue.. This giving me opportunity to pre drill reinforcing cross screws on one side, then transfer over to the other side when it is glued.. Also makes it easier to drill closer to the little innards cavities and features I want to get close to, but not hit inadvertently..
It will always look glued, repaired.. It will have a number of brass cross screws showing forever.. But will still be fragile to side pressure.. It will be useable and never give a problem under recoil.. If handled gently sideways..

There is a sight called something like "Jews for Firearms Ownership" this a firearms owners advocacy type group and more.. They have done articles about reaming the chamber of a 303 Enfield to 762x54R Russian when 303 surplus ammo was hard to find.. I think you could still fire 303 in the altered chamber, but could not reuse the case...
May have to look this up again..

Yes. That actually IS nice. What is/was the price?
My eyesight not perfect ... are they rimmed cases? Still a ye olde .303? Or converted?
Still would prefer a 98 mauser though! Converted to .308 of course.
