This story reinforces my take on tarrifs and import bans ... they are usually 'own goals'! China is hurting itself as much as us ... maybe more. LMAO! The stuff they import from us is either: A) A cheap, essential raw material used in vast quantities by their economy and consumers. Or B) A high end luxury good that the richer and influential citizens really like to have. SO a government that makes life much less enjoyable for its rich and influential people, impedes its major industries and cuts (or makes much more expensive) essential services to its 'masses' is a Government begging for civil unrest and an uncompetetive economy. The most hillarious thing we can do right now is sit back and watch them suffer. And maybe put an embargo on exporting strategic rare earths that are going to be difficult for them to source from other locations! Even a temporary embargo on iron ore exports would make them shit very big bricks as steel mills can't stop running and making good the loss of Australian imported ore would be very, very difficult for them! As in this article: www.smh.com.au/business/markets/schadenfreude-as-chinese-steel-mills-ask-for-help-from-rio-and-bhp-20201217-p56oa6.html

Their own people suffer and eventually they'll work out their unnecessary suffering is the result of their own inept and infantile CCP 'leadership' .. What a bunch of morons!

When I was in China our Liaison Officer informed us the locals / indig were "so primitive" they even used dried yak dung to fuel their cooking and heating fires while the Chinese used coal and or charcoal! We walk around the other side of the compound and there is a bunch of Han Chinese imports burning yak dung to cook their dinner!

Animal dung is often used for fires in areas with few trees. Sounds more like CCP racism than anything else.

Australia should take this time to stop exporting so much iron ore, stock pile it but don’t publish the amount and invest in the Iron Boomerang plan. Start refining the ore and making iron. Sell to highest bidder but don’t sell the AAA grade to China as we are “worried it won’t meet their standards” - only have the B-grade for sale to them. Let them buy ore as A grade iron from other primaries or on the secondary market.

They are just going to use all the raw materials we have sold them to build and even bigger military.

Quote from the article: "This makes them a diplomatic weapon, part of Beijing’s determination to wage “hybrid war” – the use of every means available short of kinetic weaponry – to assert its will." If kinetic is what they don't want ... kinetic is what we should give them. In the age of GPS there is no excuse for straying inside territorial waters and EEZ's ... lets pop one of their stray fishing vessels during a 'mis-understanding' and see what happens. And lets talk about iron ore at the same time. Then let them decide if the cost is worth whatever retarded gain they think they are going to make by messing with us. We are not some irrelevant or 'strategic' interest to China like pacific nations and African nations are ... they depend on us for their economic wellbeing. Let them realise that the hard way. Because the US also depends on us for strategic military reasons ... China can't go any more 'kinetic' on us than they have on Taiwan.

Aussie's are being urged to dob in rich foreigners illegally buying residential properties. Frydenberg announced a new 'Tip Off' campaign to crack down on non-citizens and non-residents from getting around foreign investment laws and snapping up houses, pricing out ordinary Australians from owning their own homes. It's About Time A new Australian Taxation Office hotline has been set up to report foreigners breaking the rules. 1800 060 062 Under existing rules, foreigners who aren't citizens or residents of Australia are restricted to buying newly built properties, in most circumstances. They aren't allowed to buy a substantially renovated home and need approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board for any real estate purchase including vacant residential land. Despite these rules, many investors get around those laws by organising local proxies to buy properties on their behalf. :ummmno: Parliament passed new laws this year imposing $333,000 fines for illegally buying property worth more than $5million and misleading authorities. At the end of March 2020, Frydenberg declared there would be a zero dollar approval threshold for all proposed foreign investments of Australian businesses and residential real estate. That announcement came into effect after federal Liberal MP Hastie called for the Foreign Investment Review Board to be alert to the possibility of Chinese firms buying up distressed Australian assets. From the ATO webpage, last modified: 21 Oct 2020.

CCP fishing vessels all turn off their GPS's when fishing illegally. They are even doing it to North Korea. They are getting caught by sattelite imagery.

bug, I'm guessing you meant they turn off AIS rather than GPS.

bug , I'm guessing you meant they turn off AIS rather than GPS. A cray fisherman said the same to me on the weekend - he seemed to think they toyed with the AIS to make them show up in another part of the world while fishing in southern waters.

have been lurking this forum for awhile, wanted to ask if anyone here recieving mail from endccp.com/ ? I got a leaflet a few days ago in the mailbox in brisbane. from the website. "This pandemic could have been prevented if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) did not lie. Yet, ever since it took over China, hundreds of millions of people have been suffering from its endless deceptions and brutality. The demon CCP has plundered the ancient land of China, and now its terror has spread globally, affecting everyone. It is time for all of us to reject its evil work and put an end to the Chinese Communist Party!"

The thing is we all know this stuff about the CCP already. Maybe a leaflet drop over Beijing is a better use of the paper? Welcome.

How sad too bad. Karma in action.
This is where .gov.au should be running an IO campaign to penetrate the Chinese social media and let them know without a doubt that the pain they are feeling is a consequence of their CCP masters disregard for their welfare rather than some act of Australian belligerence as they are no doubt being told.
